Hi, I am new to this forum and really hope u can help me since I didnt find any good info on the web.
I will visit Malaysia next March. I am planning to be a backpacker for all the time (6 months) and want to bring a 'Glock' survival knife with me (17 cm blade, single edged, with saw on back side).
It is not a flick knife and not a dagger which are illegal in Malaysia.
My questions are:
- Am I allowed to bring it with me ?
- When I bring it from Thailand to Malaysia via train is there any problems on the border inspection ?

I intend to carry the knife in my backpack.
I am really looking forward for your help on this issue.
Thank you very much...btw I am from Germany.
Laters,

Hi there Dr Birkin!

Welcome to AF. dragonwelcome.gif It's nice to hear that you'll be coming to M'sia in March! Does that 6 months consist of your whole backpacking trip or M'sia only? If it is, how long are you planning to stay in M'sia?

Oh no. You'll be missing out on the Chinese New Year and Thaipusam celebration which falls on 29/30 January and 11 February respectively. But it's okay. You can check out on the Harvest Festival (30/31 May) in Sabah and Gawai/Dayak Festival (1/2 June) in Sarawak. They will be pretty interesting. But I am sure you have already done your homework. embarassedlaugh.gif

I am not too sure if you can bring a "Glock" survival knife along with you across the border. If you do not mind you can try. The worst that can happen is that the customs would confiscate the knife from you and you will have to buy a new one in M'sia. :\ Right now the other forumers are celebrating the Hari Raya Puasa. They may reply much later. Anyway I hope that you'll enjoy your stay in M'sia! The food especially munch.gif beerchug.gif
