Oh wait a minute... I'm one too! (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Can't be bothered to look for photos just now.
I think just how KL is equidistant to both Jakarta (730 miles) and Bangkok (740miles)
so too is the Malay dance traditions influenced by them. Chinese and Indian dance traditions have become Malaysian too.

(IMG:http://allmalaysia.info/msiaknow/arts/images/zapin/zapin1.jpg)

Malay Zapin Dance. Very famous in the southern state of Johor and has a big association.

(IMG:http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b373/noeast/d448.jpg)

The Malay joget. A dance performed by 2 people. U use mainly ur legs and twisting the body according to the rhtytm.

(IMG:http://www.bedoktownsec.info/ccas/MalayCulturalClub/images/image001.jpg)

Dikir barat. The members sit...tells a long story while moving their hands. Many performers innovate the dance and usually use modern songs.

(IMG:http://www.rmp.gov.my/rmp03/rgb1.jpg)

The Kuda kupang. Dancers use woven mats shaped like a horse to dance. Dancers are usually said fall into a trance as a spirit enters their body.

(IMG:http://www.abcmalaysia.com/tour_malaysia/images/tarian_lilin.jpg)

My favourite dance from Negeri Sembilan. The Tarian Lilin-candle dance. Besides the dancers with candles ther are also women who'll hit large poles onto the ground to make the music. The dance looks complicated and elegant. Pity there are few pictures of the tarian lilin in the net.

I'll post more later.
