I have met a lot of Indonesian students in my college and I noticed that none of them (the ones that I know) smoke kreteks as their first choice cigarette.Instead, all of them opt for the white cigarettes. They only smoke kretek casually. Are kretek cigarettes becoming unpopular among Indonesian teenagers?Do they think it's cooler to smoke Marlboro than Gudang Garam?Or is it still popular among Indonesian youths in the other parts of Indonesia?Let the poll tell whether or not the kretek is still a favourite among Indonesian youth.

Kretek is still my choice. I bought 10 cartons of Gudang Garam (each containing 240 cigarettes) to Europe when I went back from Indonesia last year..
I only smoke kretek.. |

How old are you,Bohemian? Do you really choose kretek as your regular cigarette? I used to smoke kretek (Sampoerna),but when I shifted back to white cigarette,I felt bitterness on my tongue. But I do smoke kretek casually.

Pop youngsters > White filtered cigarettes- A Mild, Marlboro or for the more fashionable one Davidoff.
Artsy & intellectuals > Kreteks - Sampoerna Dji Sam Soe all the way. Fanatics. Or weed. Hip money (new & old & the women who want to get them) > Cuban cigars. There are plenty of cigar & wine cafes/clubs in Jakarta now. Do not forget to wear your Rolex. This post has been edited by anak baek: Dec 1 2005, 03:20 PM |

Bad news!!!
The government is increasing the price for a pack of cigarettes!!! And they gonna stop selling 10s and 14s soon!!! In the future, you will only see 20s in stores. Have they given thoughts about people from the rural areas? How are they gonna afford them?Yes,it's easy for you guys to say, stop smoking. But the truth is otherwise. If this happens, the country's productivity will decrease due to workers who smoke can't concentrate on doing their jobs. The Government should consider other things as well. This is Asian country, not Europe. |

For years I only smoke kretek, GG Surya. I have brought a few hundred to Amsterdam. Kretek is available in Holland at the cost of € 3,95 for 12 batang (GG filter or Djarum) also other brands.
