Cheong Sum Vs. Kimono, Which one is sexier? Options

I find the two traditional dresses still worn today very attractive. I think chicks should wear them more often, not just during special occasion.

Qipao / Cheong Sum

Qipao.. which I believe, is a type of cheong sam.

I perfer the cheong sam to kimono because it is slimmer (makes the girl look sexier), made from fine quality silk, requires alot of skill to make, comes in a huge variety of designs and colors, is more practical (many women still wear it to formal events), is MUCH easier to wear :P and looks like it is more comfrtable to wear (than the clumsy wood shoes, pillows and belts that come with kimono).

Out of the two I would pick qipao/cheong sum for being "sexier".



But I find kimono more... "interesting".

Although kimono is very much like traditional Chinese clothing prior to the invention of qipao.

These two types od dresses should be from the Tang dynasty.



Anyways the Qin and Han dynasty clothing for women have alot of resemblence to the kimono.

I think cheong sum fits asian women perfectly because it compliments their slim and elegant bodies. The tall collar accentuates the slender asian neck, the slim tailored fit, the slit *drool*, the diagonal chest buttons, very tradional yet is still popular due to it's timeless design.

Kimono on the other hand is less of a dress than it is a walking exhibit of japanese culture. So many of the japanese' traditions are embodied within the kimono. I'm no expert, perhaps Ogumo can help us with the components of a traditonal kimono and their significance.

I do know though, that the waist rope on a kimono is tied in a very complicated way, and some speculates that is where japanese rope bondage comes from.

I hope chinese chicks would wear them on sundays, instaed of just on weddings, that would be so cool!

They are becoming mroe popular. During Chinese New Year I always see women wearing them. Alot of young girls wear qipaos to graduation dinner and dance. Certain shops in Chinatown (this tea store) have their women employees wear them.

Not to mention modern western culture as incorperated this chinese design into their fashion line (I've seen 'modern' qipao designs at stores liek Below the Belt, RW & Co., etc.) Many Caucasians wear them.

When I was a little kid ( about 6 or 7 years old), I used to wear a set of manchu qipao, which my mom bought in a market, during Chinese new year. But not anymore

Anyways, I think whites look silly in those qi paos. Yheis bodies are tooo big. Whenever I see some clueless white woman wearing a qi pao, I just shake my head. What makes them think they can pull it off?

I think I see once a very sexy qi pao, the length is above the knee, like a mini-skirt. Although that may not be a real qi pao anymore.

I think Maggie Cheung in In the Mood for Love looks hot in her super tight qi pao.

I find the cheong sum sexier than the kimono.
Well, actually Kimonos can be made from silk just like Cheong sum can be made from other materials besides silk.
There are also many different colours and designs to choose from in Kimono.
But I agree that the cheong sum is much much easier and practical to wear than a kimono.

I have one of that and I love to wear it when I go clubbing.

The Qipao now you see are modern style. Traditional Qipao wouldn't show your arms and legs.

I think a big reason as to why we don't wear qipao everyday now is because a lot of people would stare...[I'm in the US] usually the only time I wear qipao is for pipa performances. I prefer the long ones rather than the miniskirt ones though. They're nice looking yet classy. I'm still intrigued by the clothes that women wore before qipao though. Very very interesting and cool looking.
