after his topic on Chinese ninja's, I decided to research up on Korea's ninja's and this is what I found.
They were called Sulsa's... which is funny because it sounds like Sulssa (diaheria in korean)<-spelled it wrong... (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/sure.gif) ANYWAYS!! yeah.... check it out if you'd like http://www.hwarangdo.com/Magazines/knights.htm http://www.hwarangdo.com/Magazines/sulsa.htm |

Ninjas are funny. I don't know why, but they are. Maybe it's because of those American Ninja movies.
When those little ninjas popped out of nowhere in The Last Samurai, I laughed. A beautiful movie that could have done without ninjas. |

It means something along the line of "skilled warrior". QUOTE (RiverPlate4Life) When those little ninjas popped out of nowhere in The Last Samurai, I laughed. A beautiful movie that could have done without ninjas. To the general American audience, it isn't a Japanese film unless it has ninjas (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/embarassedlaugh.gif) This post has been edited by Kulong: Mar 29 2004, 02:19 PM |

Why do Sulsa carry Japanese sword? (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/confused.gif) I read the Korean manga, King of Hell, Sulsa carry Korean sword (look like Chinese sword). :-p
About Last Samuria, lol... Ninja attack is not really necessary and is too stereotypical. When I see those Ninja in that movie, somehow Korean Ninja popped in my mind. (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/sure.gif) This post has been edited by Shao: Mar 29 2004, 03:08 PM |

They only carry swords which the sword is efficiently a good sword to kill person wether it's japanese samurai katana/wakizashi or not. |

Have you guys ever seen Korean Song Mo swords? They look more similar to Japanese swords than Chinese. Perhaps those are what the sulsa use. |

The costumes are cool too. (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/icon_smile.gif) Are those traditional Korean martial arts garments? Hey, Shao, maybe you could feature Korean ninjas in your comic. Everyone will be like "huh?" (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/eek.gif) |

Hey great info. Speaking of Korean swordsmanship, there was a korean sword fighting style which was considered the most beautiful in the world. I read about this somewhere on a kumdo/kendo forum. What's sad is that the people that knew the style didn't open up any school sor anything so their teachings weren't passed down to the new generation. The remaning people who knew the style all passed away of natural causes. Kind of sad that something that beauftiful was never passed down.
