Can you guys tell if a person is Khmer or not just by looking at them??
Of course you can separate Khmer from different race like White ppl a lot easier but what about fellow Asian? Have you mistaken anyone to be Khmer when they are not?? Or didn't know that person Khmer???

I can generally tell if a person is Khmer by the hair, eyes, lips, sometime colors of the skin, and even accent.
Most Khmer I seen generally have thicker hair than most Asian, it usually a little wavy but then again there Khmer like me who have thin hair, but even then it not as black or dark as to other Asian hairs. My hair is like blond/brown when I am in the sun(never dye my hair), and some Khmer hair look red in the sun.

Khmer eyes are usually round and some have slanted eyes but it either still big or you can see the folded skin. Most Khmer tend to have full lips,....not big, but full as in the top and bottom lips are both the same size or pouty.

Skin color can give it away but there light skin Khmer but you can tell by the facial features. Most Khmer are a golden tan to a dark brown but mostly it in between and depending on the season. I change color! hehe, in the summer I can turn dark easily, esp. when I am swimming, but in the winter I am a golden tan.

Accent is a hard one to determine if s/he is Khmer, I find that other Asian that just came to the U.S. speak English with a high-pitch vioce and Khmer is just not, sorry it hard to explain.

Well this is my opinion, and how I usually can tell if s/he is Khmer if you have other ways you can tell if s/he is Khmer please reply or if you dis/agree with me.

I have mistaken 2 boys to be Khmer and they were actually Mexicans.
They both said it okay and they were told that a lot.

Or didn't know that person Khmer???

I haven't done this yet.

Khmer people don't usually think I am Khmer and others too. They would usually think I am French (Barang) and other people look at me puzzled when I say my ethnicity is Cambodian. It's amazing how Cambodians can pass for anything. Alot of my Cambodian friends get mistaken for Hawaiian, Latino, Flip, East Asian, half black, half white,etc. I think the lighter skin khmers usually with the smaller eyes are mixed with Sino,Vietnamese,etc. The original Khmer would have tan skin. I am not really sure, because that's what my father always tells me.

Yeah the original/majority Khmer has Tan/golden brown type skin color. The same skin color of those of Arabs, Hawaiians, Native Americans, Mexicans etc. Actually, Khmer comes in all COLOR, YES, color. I have seen really dark Khmer and really light Khmer.
