Ulaanbaatar shops and near downtown offer many curios, antiques, artwork and nice traditional clothing. Time is allowed for shopping in Ulaanbaatar and at the tourist camps.

There are many duty free shops, where convertible currencies are accepted. Apart from the gift shops in the major tourist hotels, there are a lot of shops in Ulaanbaatar, where traditional artwork, antiques and souvenirs can be purchased, such as in department store.

The main shopping items are Mongolia souvenirs, cashmere products, leather and Mongolian silk costumes, also the art works and folk song CD. Mongolian cashmere and leather products are well quality as representing country of Mongolia in the international markets. In the supermarkets typical drinks such as dry wines and bakery products have a many kinds for your best choice.

The Mongol style paintings, books on Mongolian art and traditional musical instruments make excellent gifs. If you are interested on very special and rare souvenirs such as deer/gazelle horns, bones or old figures and etc, you should take the special note sheet, which will prove that you bought this item at the sales' point and the sold item is produced legally, from the saleswomen.

Please, do not buy fossils of dinosaur bones, eggs, petrified trees, gold figures, and very ancient antiques. Because, it is not allowed to bring abroad. ha ha
