A member of the privy council even got an indian last name. He was a supreme court judge. My family name also has not been changed to sound like a thai. |

Yeah, her mom is Lao, my family (including her mom), immigrated to Thailand after 1975. Her maiden name in Nokeo. Most of the family is settled in Dallas but Chompoo and her mom decidde to stay. My uncle and aunt just came back from visiting them 2 weeks back so they got some pics. Ima go up to dallas in a couple of weeks and I'm gonna get some pictures.
Technically, I've never met Chompoo, I only met my aunt for the first time last november. I'm fixing to ge to Thailand this summer to meet her. This post has been edited by Silent_Nanashi: Mar 15 2006, 05:44 PM |

Chompoo was born in thailand, so shes a Thai national. My family originated in Thai Issan but my grandfather got in trouble with the law in the 60's so we immigrated to Laos. After 1975 we came back. Chompoo's mom and my dad were born in Thailand, but all my other uncles and aunts were born in Laos. Her mom speaks lao, I'm not sure about Chompoo though. I usually refer to my family as Lao rather than Thai because my grandfather favors Laos over Thailand.

For Chompoo , I think she is a proud thai citizen since very few halfies have a thai nickname. I watched her the other day she called herself "Chom". I fall in love with her right away. (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/icon_redface.gif) A mixed girl called herself a thai name. WOW! And she speaks very very good thai. (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/icon_redface.gif) She even speaks thai much better than my dad. (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/sure.gif) I did not know that she was born in Thailand. When you said that she's half lao half white, my mind went straight to the immigration. These days we get paid for reporting illegal immigrants.
