well there are good and bad things in japan. The bad things are they are landlocked from other countries so trade and other goods are more expensive. Another bad thing is that they have a small country for a fast growing population. The good thing is that japanese are really nice!! = D and good looking (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

How is an island nation "landlocked"?
Japan is like a very sterile ant colony. That's why the Japanese are always looking to get out.

Where do you get that idea, most Japanese stay in Japan as opposed to moving abroad (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/icon_confused.gif)

Not quite true. The consumer price index (CPI) and average salaries walk hand in hand. So "expensive" countries such as Norway and Japan are not expensive for their own citizens. Very layman and simplistic, but hope you catch my drift.

Basically, yeah.

High cost countries have wages that compensate for the high price levels.

Oslo is the most expensive city in the world. I was just there, and I can't understand how tourists survive.
