QUOTE (Chinese Pride @ May 12 2004, 12:14 AM) ummm, what does hmong people look like? do they look like viets or malays? Actually Hmong people look just like Chinese/Korean/Japanese would. I live in southern california among lots of asian people and everyone regardless of what they are, automatically assumes I'm one of them |

QUOTE Until 1999, the Hmong people have lived without an archive of our own. The reasons can be found in our history. Over 5,000 years ago the Hmong, once highly developed with a rich culture in northeast China under the leadership of the Hmong king Chiyou, were invaded, conquered, and suppressed by the expansionist Chinese. Our civilization was taken away. much of this is bull QUOTE Over 5,000 years ago the Hmong, once highly developed with a rich culture in northeast China First of all, you Miao originated around Yangtze River valley, not northeast China. And there was no sign of a highly developed Miao culture. QUOTE under the leadership of the Hmong king Chiyou, were invaded, conquered, and suppressed by the expansionist Chinese. Chiyu was not Miao King. He was one of the leaders of Dongyi group, who fled southward after being defeated by Huangdi in the North. Chiyu and some of his tribals then were MIXED with Miao as they fled. It's funny how Miao ( Miao Man or San Miao) are trying to take credits of him. By the way, how would you even try to prove your "story" is true when Miao people don't even have archives of their history like a standard civilization? |

QUOTE (???? @ May 28 2004, 10:03 PM) By the way, how would you even try to prove your "story" is true when Miao people don't even have archives of their history like a standard civilization? Miao/Hmong people pass down their history by telling "stories". The problem with that is unlike written records, these "stories" can be easily manipulated for various purposes including entertainment or political. Imagine if only a tiny bit of these "stories" were changed each generation, now multiply that by the number of generations that have existed throughout the past 5,000 years. Also, imagine how many Miao/Hmong tribes there are and how each tribe have their own versions of these "stories". |

Yes I do have respect of different cultures, I just don't respect their distortion of history. What's your point anyway? you have no knowledge on this subject. |

No. Just to make it simple Miao (Hmong) is group that used to live in southern China about 5000 years ago. They went into war with Han Chinese and they lost. So they fled southward into Laos and some to Vietnam. |
