well. im back from my trip. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) from ny that is. here are some things i noticed comparing to chicago while i was over there:
- nyc appears a lot dirtier in general than chicago. doesn't mean it actually is dirtier. but chicago appears to have more dumpsters and alleys to store the trash while in nyc, even in nice places like the "village", there's trash bags on the corners and on the sidewalks. also in downtown. - central park was nice~ chicago's equivalent: lake shore drive/millenium park? i guess (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused.gif) - nyc seems to be more integrated than chicago. in a lot of places in chicago, you know actually when you're going into another part of town, etc. the suburbs in chicago look really different from the city. while i was taken around manhatten, around central park, a lot of the areas seemed to flow into each other. - a lot more traffic and honking in nyc (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bawling.gif) chicago has its share of it also. but nyc streets seem more complicated and packed. and people crossing the streets at anytime makes it difficult to drive around. my friend was driving and i couldn't believe how they cutting, crossing, and sayng that its ny thing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/embarassedlaugh.gif) - nyc has a lot of neat little shops and restaurants . more than chicago. - it seems more stylish in nyc. - Times Square at night is great! i don't know if Chicago has something like that. - i personally think chicago has a better skyline -new york has more old streets and landmarks/monuments/etc. i guess a lot of it due to the Great Fire in Chicago. - both by the water. but Chicago utilizes it more by having a lot of boat trips, cruise boats, speed boats so that citizens can access. i didn't see much by the water when i was taken to the pier in nyc - nyc people seem more rude than chicagoans (well to me that is) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bawling.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/embarassedlaugh.gif) - nyc downtown nightlife seems more lively than chicago downtown nightlife. - lots of Duane Reade's in nyc. equivalent in chicago=walgreens or cvs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused.gif) - parking seems to suck more so in nyc. every spot has a sign saying restrictions or you having to pay at some place. ========= every restaurant/diner i went to seemed to be pretty good. i also ate at mambo sushi, Le Pain (which i really liked).. went to Lincoln Center? it had a lot of tents open up of handmade stuff. but starting prices were about $250. uh i don't think im gonna pass on the $750 glass bowl. the puerto rican and jewish parade was happening while i was there. didn't get to see it though. 3/5 stars experience. i'm going back in august. Chicago has a lot of little shops and restaurants, you just need to be a real Chicagoan and know where to go. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggthumpup.gif)
People like me, who live most of my life in the suburbs, don't know much of where to go in Chicago besides Mich. Ave. and the big touristy hits. I went to NY last spring break. It was nice. I love Soho! It's an amazing place to walk around and relax and shop in. And I completely agree about the garbage bags all over the streets. It gives the impression of dirtiness. |

Never been to NYC, but Chicago I think is a lot easier to navigate downtown, and a lot of places are more distinctive than others.
What do you do in Boystown. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shifty.gif) Went down there once. Didn't know it was Boystown, and some guy asked if I wanted to have a good time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_redface.gif) When I checked where I was, I swore never to go back there again. Except when my friend wanted to go to Guitar Center and it was on the outskirts of Boystown, but I forgot where to get off, ended up in Boystown again. My god, those guys sure like to wave and wink -_-". I swear I'm never going there for a third time. |

yeah. i can understand why i absolutely freaking hated being in the passenger seat as my friend drove me around. everyone honking like it was nothing. and i can understand why there might not be alleyways. i guess to preserve space do to overcrowding. but i guess thats what i like about chicago. a lot cleaner but still lively. but i liked all the restaurants and diners i went to in nyc. sometimes its a hit or miss in chicago. but i still know a lot of good restaurants in chicago. but i wanna go back to nyc for central park <3

I heard the Gay Games were held in Chicago, but now there is an actual place for it. I'm not going anywhere near there. Seriously my friend didn't know where we were and I explained it to him, and he went, "OMG, were in gay town!!!" just imagine the whole block turn around, and smile at you queerly. |

In other words, I instigated the fact he bought a c@ck bong (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (dam I can't tell a joke). All I know is that anything weird and bizarre you can get around the Belmont area, anything from bongs, piercings, tattoos, eccentric/emo/gothic styles, and sex toys. -_-" I get most of this info from the radio. |
