Does having a religion really fulfill your life? What's your input?
I've heard that if you give yourself to God and glorify him in all means, you will be most happy and fulfilled. But I don't find that to be true. You're somewhat at peace, but not completely satisfied. |

I don't think so; look at all the restrictions religion place on the people. If you really want to be fulfilled, then do things you want to do as long as it doesn't hurt others.

I think it's very personal... For me, I feel more fulfilled since I started going back to church, praying, etc... But I would never tell anyone what is right for them. (Which is why I've been called a "lukewarm Christian." That and I guess we're all supposed to hate gay people and love Bush neither of which I will EVER do). We are all on our own personal journey and because I happen to find it soothing, and it has made me a much better person all around, doesn't mean it will for the next person.

it depends. find your own religion. you are only restricted of religion if you try to follow one that you don't agree. religion comes in many forms, because the truth is unique to every one.
i am a christian because i believe in it. sometimes i try to adhere to buddhist philosophy, very small as a way of life. i feel at ease when i pray and when i meditate. or when i box. i use to pray when i run, or i recite buddhist tantras not as prayers but as hymns. |

Yeah I agree with flipcombatmedic, it depends on your religion. IMHO, it doesn't necessary provide you with fulfillment directly. It just provides you with a way to find yourself & your happiness. Sort of like a guide when you're lost. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_smile.gif)

I suppose it's possible to find fulfilllment in lies. But I'd rather find a better (more tasteful, factual, logically consistent, less socially irresponsible) way.

No, I don't believe having a religion really fulfills anything.
However, I'm speaking from personal experience, so please, refrain from bashing on my own personal opinion. For 18 years, I had a religion. I wouldn't say it was forced on me, but I was born into a strong Catholic family. And for 18 years, I followed what I knew, which was the Catholic faith. I don't have a problem with Catholicism, but I just choose not to follow it. And I made this decision last summer. I'm now 19, going on 20, and I feel a lot free considering that I believe I am "Agnostic" now. I choose not to have a specific religion, because I don't think it's necessary. If I believe God exists, I feel that's enough for ME. I feel as if not having a certain religion fulfills everything that wasn't fulfilled when I actually had a religion.. If that made any sense. But can you tell me, What is Butifarra other than sausage? (what's so special about it as sausage that is?) |

Hi extra, according to this nun, the butifarra is the reincarnation of the Holy Spirit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/eek.gif)
(IMG:http://www.tienda.com/images/largesize/cz-26.jpg) As a sausage, it's pretty greasy and fatty... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/embarassedlaugh.gif) |

O_o Holla-front right? "Religion" as you would call it is a walk with God. Now whether you're close or far to Him decides on the level in which you are satisfied and fulfilled. "Seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Luke 12:31) And being a christian does not mean it will be smooth sailing from there for the Bible said there is a time to weep. And to anyone who really wants to know if there is a God pm me. I have physical evidence. This post has been edited by ServantOfJesus: Jul 28 2006, 04:16 AM |

It's so much easier to say, "God did it,"
than to accept responsibility. |

With a name like yours and an assertion like that, don't hide your "evidence" in a PM. Bring it out here in the light for ALL of us to see! "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine." And to anyone who really wants to know if there is a God pm me. I have physical evidence. There is no such thing as walking with God. What's going on is actually you thinking with a presumption. Namely, Christian thinks "God lurves me" (said presumption) and then construes everything else in her life accordingly. Fail a test? => walking with God. God is telling you something about your life. Breakup with boyfriend and sad because of it? --> Don't worry Jesus loves you => walking with God (who walked with you when you failed test too!) In all cases, no one is walking with anything. You're just interpreting life events according to a childish priniciple. Also, the dialogue you get would be absolutely the same no matter what this universe is, be it of Jew God or not -- there can be no God at all and your "relationship with God" would be identical, unchanged. That is the deepest secret no Christian knows. This post has been edited by SsangOhChill: Jul 30 2006, 12:32 AM |
