The question of the day is, do they take it off when they piss, or do they use it to better direct the flow? (IMG:http://www.boomspeed.com/triste/OO.gif)

The penis sheath don't exist in Papua New Guinea. It only exists amongst the Dani people in Indonesian West Papua.. I think the docus you watch is about Papuans in Indonesia, dalawapo.. Just because they're Melanesians, doesn't mean that they're not Indonesians. QUOTE (dalawapo @ Jun 17 2004, 09:23 PM) QUOTE Just because they're Melanesians, doesn't mean that they're not Indonesians. Some important Papuans in Indonesia: first of all purnomor, INDONESIA IS A NATIONALITY..... INSIDE THE NATION ARE MANY DIFFERENT ETHNIC GROUPS, MAINLY MALAYS AND MELANESIANS..... FOR YOU TO DENY THEIR ETHNIC IDENTITY AS A MELANESIAN PEOPLE IS GENOCIDE IN AN ATTEMPT TO FORM SOME FALSE RACE CALLED INDONESIA OR TO CONTROL THE LAND OR WHATEVER.... ITS LIKE CHINA. CHINESE IS A NATIONALITY, INSIDE THE NATION ARE MANY DIFFERENT ETHNIC GROUPS.... Dalawapo When did I ever deny their ethnicity as Melanesians? I am emphasising that despite they being of different race, does not mean they are not Indonesians. Indonesia is a multi-racial and multi-cultural country. Nobody in Indonesia ever seeks to do "genocide" to deny them their Melanesian culture or whatever.. As proof that Papuans have full and equal status as Indonesians, I presented the examples of important Papuans in Indonesia in above post.. What's the dig on your Melanesian-Austronesian obsession anyways? (IMG:http://www.travellady.com/Issues/Issue70/Images/70m-9.jpg) Another exotic tradition of Dani tribesmen of West Papua province is their tradition of preserving their dead ancestors for exhibition in a special "holy hut" (honai), usually erected in the middle of the village. The way the do this is by treating the corpse with special spice ingredients, smoked it, then put the charred but preserved corpse in a squatting position inside the holy hut. This way, a corpse may survive for up to 400 years. Only very revered traditional chiefs have the distinction of being smoked after they die. |

QUOTE (GoldenBoy @ Dec 8 2004, 10:20 PM) Yes they do and it causes a lot of infections for them and since it does not always get treated it often gets way out of control, extremely painful and dangerous ! But again, yes the still wear them today. I stopped wearing mine cause I had trouble with the zipper and I kept poking myself in the eye all the time...
