True True... I dont think we should have plenty of tanks. Although having tanks as a "just in case" wouldnt hurt. We need top notch Sniper Rifles, LMG's.. Choppers, Tools for communication, Night visions. We have old @ss m16 rifles and smoke grenades.... probably jams all the time... and we should pay these people a respectable wage... I heard these dudes even have to pay for their own soap(through their allowance) and sh*T... |

Well, I just saw the funds going into the pocket of some soldiers in position *hides*
Really. It hurts knowing that your military is already under-funded yet plagued by corruption. Anyway, it's OT so don't mind me. |

Filipinos are fond of making booby traps which makes Yanks afraid to go to Filipino lines without escort.. |

^^^That movie is sick......
I dont think anybody can deny the ability of our soldiers to fight. Americans didnt even had proper weapons to fight the japanese, let alone our people. If we had weapons, Imperial japan wouldnt even be able to take over.... |

I know the M14's are courtesy of Uncle Sam, (as are the standard issue M16 and M4s) but where did the AUG come from? Personal purchase? As far as being experienced - yeah I guess many members of the PI military would have actual combat experience (albeit in a counter-insurgency role) Are the PI special forces respected by their counterparts in US Army Delta, Navy SEALs, British SAS, and the like? Oh - and the movie the "Great Raid" was about the Cabanatuan prison raid. Unfortunately, the movie seems to give rather short shrift to the role of the Filipino guerillas and virtually 95% of screen time to the American Rangers. In the Great Raid Movie the American Rangers were the highlight of the movie because it is a Hollywood film but the Filipino Capt. Pajota (Cesar Montano) was the one planned the Raid in the movie.

True. We can't take that away from them. Who would watch an unknown foreign actor (thinking if I'm an American) casted in an American made film? They would be going to see the movie to see their actors in action rather than watch our very own.
It's still profits. But I highly appreciate the producers/directors for acknowledging the presence of Pinoys having vital roles during the mission. |

But I highly appreciate the producers/directors for acknowledging the presence of Pinoys having vital roles during the mission. I think there was a very old war movie (IIRC, it was made even during the war) called "Back to Bataan" or something like that - and even though it was an American-made movie, with the intention of showing it to American audiences, there were a great number of Filipino actors in that movie. Many of them had significant screen time and probably at least ten of them had speaking roles. I didn't even know that movie existed until a friend of mine (non-Pinoy, BTW) who is an enthusiast of old war movies, happened to show it to me. |

In my opinion Philippines should stop being reliant too heavily on USA. Whenever there is a chance Philippines need to buy their military hardware from sources other than USA. It all about value for money. Buy some of it from USA, buy some more from others, a mixed approach is needed.

IMHO we need a reformation within the army first and pluck out those greedy generals before we modernize our military.
