![]() I prefer my rice porridge with chicken instead of pork most of the time. I like to add chopped scallions, cilantro, fried onions and garlic to it. If I feel like eating it spicy, I add some roasted peppers in oil sauce to it. A favorite thing of mine to do is deep fry some thinly slice/minced marinated pork and then add it into my porridge. I love eating rice porridge in the morning on the weekends. ![]() I also like my rice kind of grainy instead of watery. |

Once, I bought roasted duck meat from the deli counter in the Chinese supermarket. I used the duck bones to cook porridge. The porridge was full of flavor! I ate that with some leftover duck meat and chopped green onions.

Mmmm congee. I remember one time my aunty made congee with dried scallops and dried oyster. That was so yummy.
I like pretty much anything in my congee. I have a liking for fresh scallops, king prawns without the shell or sliced fresh fish fillets in my congee. Oh and fried pig skin is really nice too. I like thick congee coz its more filling and has a nice texture. I want some congee now. Does anyone know if there is any difference with the type of rice you use to make it? |

If you stick with Thai Jasmine rice, you should be quite safe. Brown rice and sushi rice are definitely out ya? What other types of rice are you looking at? |
