They are considerd blacks, not Chinese or Asians.

Having Chinese or Asian blood doesn't automatically make you Chinese or Asian.

But people are also in denial, it's true. If you ever lived within the african american culture, it's part of that culture(now) to forget about your mixtures and just live like african americans. The problem with that is there is no true way to live as an african american, because most are mixed and they bring bits and pieces of their culture with them sometimes with out knowing, so it changes constantly and it gets mixed up with hip-hop and jersey wearing. getting back to the subject, I think it all determines if you are proud of your races or cultures.

this is the same with most cultures that can't keep traditional values.

to kulong: mabye not in the eyes of others but biologicaly or by phenotype it does make you part asian and asian by culture just not full.

Biologically yes, but I was speaking strictly of their cultural identity.

No one cares about your biological identity because most of the time, it's quite obvious (white, black, Asian... etc.) However, one's cultural identity does not always match one's biological identity.

I honestly think mixed people aren't any culture. Mixed people represent another culture, a mixed culture that is.

Like say for example if we mixed 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom, then the result is water.

Is water the same as hydrogen? Is water the same as Oxygen? No Water is now it's own separate substance.

Thus it is the same of mixed, they aren't any ethnicty but instead are now a separate ethnicity.

I disagree.

If that's the case then most of us don't belong to any ethnicity since all of us are mixed somewhere in our bloodline. None of us are really "pure". (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/sure.gif)

It all depends on which culture you adopt. Most mixed-African-Americans adopt the African-American culture, as someone else pointed out earlier, therefore they are considered African-Americans, even if they are 1/4 or even 1/2 something else.

Precisely, none of us are pure and technically we don't deserve a whole ethnicity. But for the sake of ease we brand ourselves as Chinese,Vietnmese, whatever. But biologically most people should be classified as a different ethnicity, except those who are brothers and sisters and people who were born of incest between brothers and sisters. ugh.

To kulong: I'ts true a persons cultural identity is usualy based on their upbringing but in some cases if you look the part you try to play the part.

To Byron: What you said was ture to to a point mixed people don't have any where to go, I would know I'm mixed. Sometimes when your mixed people try to assimilate you into their culture but just always know evethough water is a mixture of 2 hydrogens and 1 oxygen it is still 2 hydrogens and one oxygen

If water is a part of you you can't deny it, water still going to be there when you look.

I agree.

Usually mixed African-Americans look more black than anything else.

However, there are always exceptions.

It's just because of the dark skin.

thanol is right people sometimes do base african americans by color but like I said before you can't just base it on that. look for features too. as seen in the first two pictures in this post I see it every day with african americans 70% of the ones I see are visualy mixed. What I mean by that is you can see features from two or more diffrent races. Like hair, eyes, bone structure ,skin tone/color,dental structure, and physical build.

I meant, what kind of culture do those Chinese practice so they actually share similar background with Negroes.
