Russia is only friendly towards China when we buy billions of dollars worth of weapons from them to keep their arms industry alive. Even then, they still sell more advance weapons platforms to India. Those military exercises were just to show off the TU-160 blackjack bombers to China, hoping we will spend more money to buy them. This post has been edited by BigBenChow: Oct 18 2006, 09:04 AM |

China is more of Pakistan's ally than the opposite, it only uses it to help weaken India. I'm not sure if China has any friends, or at least any close ones.

Why don't they just stop buying their $hit and eventually they will sell you the good ones. |

Secondly, Russia does not export advanced weapons which can be used upon them should any conflicts happen between China and Russia. The US for example, does not export the F22 to any of her allies. If they do, the F22 will probably be a watered down export version. |

Those soviet weapons (Sov destroyers, Kilo SSK, Su-30) are still quite effective today as they are from the late soviet era. China's closest ally is Pakistan hands down. Go visit a Pakistani forum and you will see how much Pakistanis love China. However, in a military conflict, China has to stand on its own. |

China's closest ally / chinese's closest alley
chinses has many closest alley. In 1989 the US government gave all the chinese students in america pernament visa so that they don't have to go back to china and risk being killed. As for the Chinese government in China, they don't have any allies at all. No nations is going to sell weapons to Chinese government, and no country is going to be China's military ally. Furthermore, the US has strategically formed military alliances with all the countries sourrounding China. |

However, in a military conflict, China has to stand on its own. The only reason those two are friends is because of India, thats it. Thats the common foe that keeps them together. Its not an alliance based on real mutual friendship, its just a shared distrust of India. |
