Did Filipinos practice gender equality, before the Spaniards came?

We had Filipina warriors in the past which may mean that women may have the same status as men and some Filipino tribes practiced matrilineal which means property is passed by females. Today, a survey shows that the Philippines has the 4th best gender equality in the world.

LOL, you're asking a culture that categorized civility in three distinct strata, the nobles, the commoner, and slaves, Maginoo (Maharlika), Timawa, and Alipin. Imagine the sexual disparity.

Are you sure that isn't a title given to the wife of a Datu, in which case she is only a figure-head?

Are you sure that isn't a title give to the wife of a Datu, in which case she is only a figure-head?



i think the more appropriate term is babaylan. according to what i remember, they are female leaders doing medicinal acts, talking to gods, etc.
