i'm someone who thinks that graphics shouldn't be a major determining factor for how good or bad a game is. but it is obvious that ubisoft isn't putting any effort into their wii games because the graphics of far cry look like utter crap .

so far, i dont see any changes between the wii and the gamecube besides innovation. i hope that changes in the near future. i agree. whats with the graphics? at least put some effort.

sadly....nintendo didnt focus on graphics..... would of been BEST if it was in 1080 instead of weakling 420(480?)ish......

why did you edit your post. your previous argument was better. ofcourse next generation consoles should have updated graphics. why have the same crappy graphics as before. one of the main factors gamers look forward to in a next generation console ARE the graphics. it DOES enhance the gaming experience afterall. otherwise, you be playing atari right now. dont be a hypocrite. innovation is great, but its still too early to tell if wii will succeed. just look at virtual boy. the standard gaming console formula has and will continue to work for atleast a few more years until graphics are almost realistically maxed out.

if you know a little about the ps3, you will know that the graphics is not the only improvement. what about blue ray? also, now you can "tilt" the controllers as a control scheme which may enhance gameplay. the ps2 promised an "emotion" engine but never quite delivered what sony claimed. now, the ps3 finally has the technology to do so. characters are now more lifelike with "emotion." you will know what im talking about if you ever seen the mgs4 trailer.

PC's will always beat consoles in terms of graphics.

im not talking about pc's. pc's are much more expensive than a console and you have to constantly shell out more money to keep it up to date. there are much more important things to do on a pc than playing games.
that doesnt mean it shouldnt be a strong point in a next generation console either.

if the market doesnt care for graphics, i dont see why the producers should care either. *looks to the ds sucess in japan and europe*

^ not to the point where people will choose the psp over the ds .. the psp graphics kill .. the ds doesnt even compare, yet games and the system is still selling like hotcakes in japan. even the gameboy advance (which is already suppose to be dead) and the games are still selling ..

the DS outsells the PSP by quite a bit, personally i'm tired of these 'good looking' first person shooters that have no depth.

thats because its a 'nintendo portable.' its popular enough so people will buy it. personally, i dont think its that great.
just like the ps3. its also selling like hotcakes even though the launch games are terrible. why? because its a 'playstation.'

ok, i got it as a present. i liked metroid, but there werent many other games that made me want to keep it. plus, they didnt have a zelda game at that time. i used to like mario when i was little but i never got into the whole pokemon thing.

how was metroid? i want to try that but im unsure about it's controls

from what i remembered, there was about four different control settings. i used the one where you aim by using the stylus. better than the other settings where you have to use buttons to aim. aiming is much more precise this way. i think this was my only case where the second screen was actually useful. however, fps never worked well enough on consoles much less portables. i liked the weapons in metroid. reminded me of turok for n64. the graphics are pretty much the best you will see on ds.

I edited my post after realizing your statement "I dont see any changes between the wii and the gamecube besides innovation" contradicts itself, in that innovation is itself the biggest change possible, which is something the PS3 and 360 are lacking (besides the tilt sensor on the PS3), not that there's anything wrong with it, just that they'll be having the same kind of games again with better graphics, which is what most traditional gamers still prefer, while the Wii will be targetting the wider market outside of the traditional gaming demographics.

yea, you shouldnt have changed it because i sorta agreed with it. but we will have to see how the wii turns out in the future. like i said, look how virtual boy faired.

The Wii is like an experiment, but it is a far more successful experiment than the Virtual Boy was. The Wii has already sold more in one month than what the Virtual Boy sold in several years.

the wii can sell as much as it needs to right now, but when the hype is over its going to depend solely on the new controller to create interesting and unique games. otherwise, the console will fail. this is a much more difficult task than to just create good games for a traditional console. without the next gneration eye candy, this is the only way to compete or just sell enough for the wii to stay alive. unlike the ps3, the 'new console effect' does not last nearly as long for the wii.

i hope that nintendo will come out with like a wii 2 or something wiht like 1080i graphics like the leading competitors....wii right now is awsome(friend has one, and i dont ) but better graphics will easily be the top game system for a while.....

no not yet. i haven't looked through it in a while but there were no games i wanted to play or haven't already played the last time i checked
