i got four and half years of japanese. i was going to go to japan, but it was too expensive. we had alot of choices i hischool, we had hawaiian, japansese, french spanish, a bit of german, and some tagalog during mid school, but it was a extra academical course, mostly the ilocano girls and non speakers took it. an old ilocano teachers taught the class.

ggerman sounds just like english i swear its probably the easiest if not spanish if you are fluent in english. i use to work at a grocery store and people from germany and holland sounds so much like people from teh mainland that sometimes like they speaking english, and so much people in college speak fluent german even though they never stepped anywhere near germany.

Italian is easy, similar to Spanish, French and even english. of course, I only did the one for beginners so it might get a bit harder:
uno
due
tre
quattro
cinque
sei
sette
ono
nove
dieci

uno
due
tre
quattro
cinque
sei
sette
otto
nove
dieci
(I dont even noe if thats spelled correctly)

It is very hard to learn German. Only if you are a language genius like Rizal, you can learn it in 1-2 years. The German Language has three gender and a complicated declination and conjugation of verbs. My wife is now living for more than twenty years in Germany and has still difficulities.

it's really cool to learn. the only thing that made is the fact that you have to learn to write in different characters, it jus add up to the length in actually learning the language.

Jun 27 2004, 10:16 PM
yea i have taken 3 years of spanish in high school and i am currently taking japanese as an extra academic course for summer school
after japanese, i wanna learn german (i think germany is cool too

) and then visayan (if i can't find a teacher for this then i'll just learn tagalog).
but yea, it takes about 6 years to master a language (of course you have to study very hard) and it takes about 2 years to master a language if you are living in that country that has the language (you learn much fast this way because you need to communicate in order to get around and SURVIVE :genius: this is not logic but a FACT...)

Jun 27 2004, 10:19 PM
You just try Filipino.
Eclectic Asian
Jun 28 2004, 07:42 PM
well i wanna learn the specific dialect known as visayan because that's what my family speaks and the part of Philippines they are from. if it's not offered then i'll just learn the official language tagalog....
EDIT: i also noticed that visayan is not one of the 8 languages of the philippines (according to dalawapo's signature)

yeah because japanese is a whole new language unlike spanish which is like romantic, not really but because of it's big french influence, i mean some words are the same almost. japanese is like you gotta learn both the phoenetics and the vocabulary so you can read and write as well as understand.

actually, i think it's easier for someone who speaks tagalog to learn japanese. speaking the two languages, i found alot of similarities which makes me wonder if they were japanese influence.
few examples:
na-adjectives in both languages
japanese:
kirei na onna wa doko da?
tagalog: yung
maliit na tao ay nasaan?
wa is similar to ay and ga is similar to ang
wa
kore
wa oishii da
ito
ay masarap
ga
kore
ga ichiban oishii da
ito
ang pinaka masarap
i think this is what japanese learners have trouble on because it doesnt exist in english. but this grammar exist in tagalog. things like the tagalog, " yung, ang, ay, ni, sa, na, ng etc" is basically the same usage as the japanese, "wa, ga, no, ni, de, wo, etc"
so dont get discouraged! if u connect japanese to tagalog, instead of japanese to english, things will be so much easier to understand.
