Champagne is nasty! You should try fruity drinks. Anything like pina colada, smirnoff ice, or anything with fuzzy navel. I prefer drinking vodka and gin. Anything else is plain nasty!

For now on I'll stick to my apple juice in a Champagne glass, thatta way I'll still get the look of class without the nastiness.

It's an aquired taste and I really wouldn't start off with champaign.
I'd recommend lite beers, you could drink wine but then I'd question your masculinity, and eventually work yourself up to hard alchohol.

I only had a small sip of sake, champagne and beer at different times. All taste like crap but it's probably because I'm too young to enjoy it. I actually tried to eat a strawberry with the champagne but it doesn't do anything. I shouldn't believe what I see in movies.

My first drink was some tequila straight out of the bottle. I very much regretted it a few hours later. And it did taste like crap! Definitely an acquired taste. I only recently began to appreciate the taste of it when it's mixed the right way. You should try TGI Friday's Mudslide.

I still don't like red wine.

yeh I can't seem to drink alcohol worth a damn. I think I have problems breaking it down. My digestive system gets messed up if I drink heavy alcohol and also my skin turns into this opaque brown color. I think my liver doesn't totally purify the alcohol and so some of it gets into my bloodstream and thats why my skin turns that weird color. drinking too much heavy alcohol also gives me diarrhea

Your liver cannot process alcohol (seriously, look it up) so it floods itself with water to try and flush it out. This is how alcohol dehydrates you because you're peeing yourself dry. You're not peeing all of the alcohol, but the water that your liver has leached (couldn't find a better word) from your body to try and flush it thru.
As for me, my folks put Wild Turkey on my gums while i was teething. As far as getting a drink myself, i stole a Beck's Dark from my grandmother when i was 5. It was bitter at first, but it finished clean. I slept like a rock that night.

For beginners, I always try to start them off with a sweet dessert wine. Removes lot of misgivings before you hit them with something stronger.
I basically enjoy almost everything except for the fruity $hit my sister insists that I try. Just have juice if you want pretty colors.... Red wine rules my casual drinking though.

Before I begin I'd like to say I've never tasted alcohol before, so forgive my naiveness about this subject. This New Years I was offered some champagne I usually wouldn't take a drink but I'm a legal adult now and it was new years so I thought what the hey. I took one gulp and seriously it was the worse thing I've ever tasted like listerine mixed in with cough syrup. It burned like hell too. I don't understand how people can get drunk off of this stuff, maybe I drank it wrong though...
You described it quite well.
I don't get why people like drinking it too, it's so untasteful and also high in calories.

Alcohol isn't supposed to be gulped. The taste of alcohol is nasty, but there are so many flavorings to put in the stuff to make mixed drinks, it tones down the raw alcohol taste. One bartender made me a drink called Nut-n-Honey. It really tasted like nuts and honey.
You have to understand that not liking alcohol is a good thing. There are so many people that have lost their jobs, lost their friends, lost their spouse, even lost their life, because of alcohol. Having a couple of drinks at a party or other special occasion is fine. Just don't try to make yourself like it. Why? If it's not for you, then it's not for you. Lots of people don't drink. Don't give in to peer pressure either. If you don't want to drink, then lay down the law. Tell everybody else to f-ck off.
A lot of people drink because they want the alcohol, not the taste. They want to be buzzed. Some people think it makes it easier for them to relax and be themselves. Ironically, when you're under the influence of alcohol, you're never yourself.
When I went out drinking for the first time with a few friends, I didn't know what to ask the bartender for, so I said I just wanted something sweet. This is what he made me, and it's still one of my favorites today.
A good drink to try: Wu Wu (or Woo Woo)
It's cranberry juice, vodka and peach schnapps. It's a beautifully colored drink. It should be garnished with a couple of cherries and a lime wedge. Make sure you at least get the cherries with it. It adds more sweetness to it.

its poisonous so yes your body is telling you that.
alcohol is produced by yeast cells to stop bacteria and fungoids form eating theri food.(hence its use as a disinfectant)
any chemical designed to put organisms off their food is never going to taste nice.
thats was corky the scientist.
now for corky the irish guy..........
what you need to do is drink regularly and the taste buds will simply stop regisetering it as strongly.
i know a guy who can drink a bottle of whiskey 700cl in one go...but he has to gargle with it for 5 minutes first to numb the taste buds......
practice makes perfect and regardless of its taste its effects are why we drink it.

Alcohol shouldn't be gulped down (whoever said it, was dead on). It should be enjoyed and you should stick to better grades/labels. Cheap stuff will leave you feeling like crap. And you shouldn't consume it like it's going out of style. Practice moderation.
Personally I love to enjoy a glass of wine and relax after a long day-once in a while.
I'm not a fan of much but I do enjoy a few selections on occasion and working where I am (yeah it's a university, but we still have plenty of corp events), you need to be well-cultured about it.
Anyhow my favs have always been most sweet tasting red wines, a well aged congac and sake. I do the mixed drink thing if I'm out with friends over dinner, but rarely.
I praise people that don't drink at all but the rest that do, should develope a more discriminating taste for what they choose to consume.
It helps if you know terminology like aperitif and digestif and be a bit more educated about what your drinking.
