I believe she was raised in the Netherlands. It must be noted that she didn't really have a connection with Indonesia before she became famous here. She in fact had to learn Indonesian in two months. Surinamese people, including the Javanese ones, do not consider themselves Indonesian.

Kresna, Rebecca said she has been visiting indonesia since she was 4 yrs old. and she's been falling in love with indonesia since that age. When she graduated from law school she's back to indonesia again because she wanted to stay here, and so did her brother. She wouldn't do that if she didn't feel any connection or we can't say she doesn't have any connection with Indonesia.
