dude! what are you talking about?! chinese eyes?! flat nose? oh my god! have you ever been to the Philippines? Filipinos don't have a specific look! some are light some are brown some are tall etc. etc. etc. so don't generalize!

why do you have to complicate your life? if someone said you don't look like filipino just shut up.. and don't blah about you "possibly having a freakin Spanish blood or whatever" just say what you know about yourself--you're filipino.

by the way, go to the Philippines I'm pretty sure you'll find people lookin exactly like you...

2.3% has a spanish blood but

have a population with spanish ancestry/blood of about

30-40%

CEBU has a lot of mestizo population

Or do you mean the entire population of Cebu only?

Compared to the millions of Europeans( Spaniards, German, Italians, French and etc) that settled in south America, only a thousands settled in the Philippines. A lot of filipinos claim their half this and that, but when you look at them, they look like "native south americans".

*Most Filipinos think all half south americans have spanish blood in them which is false. laugh.gif biggrin.gif

Kristine Hermosa is British-Spanish-Filipino..

According to recent genetic studies sponsored by the Stanford University, about 3.6% of all Filipinos are partly of Caucasian descent. Among this 3.6%, it is not stated whether they are of Spanish or other Caucasian descent (though it is more likely to be Spanish, American, or British). It is also not stated what percentage of Caucasian blood those 3.6% have. It is assumed, however, that this is most probably Spanish blood.

In the same twist of fate, some parts of Indonesia also has a higher rates of European genes- in Borneo, the percentage of people with European genes is 2.0% - it rises to 7.6% in Manado, where a lot of Dutch intermarried with the local settlers.

In phenotypes, Filipino Mestizos (or Filipino Eurasians) tend to look darker as compared with other SOutheast Asian EUrasians (like Thai Eurasians), because the Europeans who went to the Philippines were Spanish from Andalucia and Extremadura, who weren't actually completely European - those 'Spaniards' had European blood mixed with African, Arab, and Berber blood, which make them look darker relative to other Europeans, have dark brown eyes, and dark brown hair. As such, Filipino Eurasians tend to look quite Mexican or Hispanic.

SOutheast Asian Eurasians (like Thai or INdonesian Eurasians), as a general rule, were mostly half-British or half-Dutch, which is why they look really Nordic in appearance.

However, the number of Filipino Eurasians whose European roots are Nordic are increasing. In Angeles, Olongapo, Manila, as well as in Boracay, where new batch of European immigrants are making inroads to Philippine society - the progenies usually bear striking resemblance to other Southeast Asian Eurasians. This is due to their oigins being mostly half-British, American, Dutch, German, Swedish, or Belgian.

According to a recent Stanford genetic study of just 30 people, the percentage of Filipinos who have Caucasians blood would be 3.6%, though it is not specified which is from Spaniards and from Americans. Most social scientists, however, agree that about 3% are from Spanish priests, and the remaining 0.6% would be from the White American soldier.

The reason why the number of European percentages are higher in Indonesia is because they surveyed specifically a lot of people in Manado City, where there is a lot of Dutch blood. In the Philippines though, they only got 30 people from random places in the country. If it was taken in Manila or in Cebu, with larger sample sizes, I guess the percentage would approach 5%-8% of the population in any area of the city, and among the upper classes, it would be about 30-60%. A lot of Chinese in the Philippines have Spanish and American blood too.

being only 1/4 spanish is at the absolute limit where youre allowed to say you got spanish blood imo after that... youre just Filipino yes a scary thought i know.
i bet 98% of "spanish" filipinos in philippines are only 1/4th spanish at best... the rest go into the "great great great great great great grandparents" or "1/2 spanish back in 1700" which obviously doesnt make them spanish no matter how hard they try.. but its kinda cool to be white in the philippines

That's true. The fact that Spain hasn't been involved in our internal affairs since 1898, much of the pure Spanish have already intermarried with Filipinos, and Chinese Filipinos.

When you think about that number 3.6%, that's actually quite high in comparison to other countries. That's about 3 Million people.
And these people are likely to be concentrated in the cities, and high society. This is probably why some of us consider it a low percentage because we failed to take into account the rural areas which still comprizes the majority of the country.

Factor in the Chinese Filipinos, which I estimate is pretty high. Factor in the number of Fil-Ams of mixed ethnicity coming back to live the Philippines, which is only growing. Other Asians too who are moving to the Philippines. Diversity is growing. Some may not like it, but its a global thing.
