According to this picture, we are more identical to the Formosan group (especially the Ami) than our southern neighbours.

I think the pink mark is original Austronesian blood and the red one is southern Chinese.

I think Filipinos are more related to Indonesians, Bruneians and Malaysians.
Hi Tone
My guess, by blood the ami and by culture the southern neighbors. I think the graph was based on the mother's side(mtdna), I wonder what the father's bloodline would reveal.

icon_confused.gif intersting eh! looks like the red is more chinese
*promo
then TONGANS have chinese blood?
Bhaskara
Well said, *promo!That's quite confusing!
Hi Tone
Tongans like all polynesians can be traced back to natives of taiwan and Papuans.

Why do Tongans have more Chinese than Polynesian? I think yellow represent Polynesian blood. Maybe Chinese explorers went there long ago or something and mixed with the local people
jargalant
Does this mean we are the closest to Chinese among Austronesians?
dalawapo
maybe it is far more complicated than what you believe.. this is genetics after all, those markers can represent something more complex than pink is austronesian and red is chinese...

but u would think it fits, being RED China is already a term in your mind! embarassedlaugh.gif
