Hey, my mom wants me to go to a Filipino university. I have been going to school in the U.S. since kindergarten. I've been thinking about going Michigan State University, and have a pretty good chance of being accepted there. My mom tells me she wants me to research Ateneo or De La Salle. Can anyone tell me about the the costs of going to either De La Salle or Ateneo De Manila? And which school do you think is the best? Or maybe I should stay with MSU. I'm also thinking about Arizona State.
Thanks in advance-

OMG US universities > filipino universities
filipino universities are significantly cheaper, but only for people who live in the philippines. they won't be as expensive as american universities (even if you want to study inside your one state) but you live in the country with the best universities on earth so i don't see any reason to study in the philippines.
i was thinking of going to UP but iunno...my degrees might have a hard time getting recognized once i'm back in canada.

^yup, maarte ang Canada hindi nila nirerecognize ang mga Unis dito.
Kian Seng, if you get accepted at MSU, study there. MSU sent me an application form but when I saw the tuition fee, I didn't bother writing anything on it. hehehehe
it really depends on what course you are planning to take. If it doesn't require advanced facilities, then why not try studying in the Phils? Those uni ratings of are so overrated and I hope I'm not being biased by saying that there are really good unis here in the country. UP, Silliman, MSU (Mindanao State), Ateneo, etc.
DLSU - around 40 -60 thou per sem
Ateneo - 50 thou per sem (I think)

the most important thing is the person's motivation to learn. kahit saan ka pa nag-aral. kung matalino ka talaga matalino ka. at kung masipag ka, mas tatalino ka pa.
unlike some Pinoys here in Pinas, I don't bow down to people just because they're educated abroad lalo na sa America. maraming magaling dito at hindi naman sila nakapag-aral sa ibang bansa.
siyempre, maganda din yung nakakalabas sila sa Pinas minsan minsan para magpunta sa mga conference chuva. maganda din yung may exposure sila. pero di naman porke america or abroad, mas okay at mas magaling parati. diba?

Yah I know! I guess its expensive for them though. I heard DLSU is one of the most expensive collages.
Also one of the top of the line Apartments there is only $400 a month. Some schools here you have to pay $30,000 a sem, thats not even Ivy Leauge. And my brother pays $800 a month for his APT. The price is really uncomparable.
But I heard Kristeh talk about how 80,000 pesos a month is high over there. Thats not enough to cut it here. Even though the schooling fees are very uncomparable, salaries are also quite uncomparable. Average annual salary in my area would be 4.5 million in Phiippines... this is one of the reasons its so hard to decide to go back and work in the Philippines.

most of these manilenyos think there are only 4 universities in the country when in fact there are other unis who perform better in board exams and are more productive in research than some of those schools you listed. listen to vynncute. hehehe
e.g.
University of San Carlos has a good engineering program.
MSU, I think, is good in the sciences.
Asian Institute of Management is good in business courses.
Silliman really excels in Marine science.
