Im stuck between FFIV and FFVI. I still have an attachment to IV, it being the first RPG I ever played. I loved FFVI though for its brilliant storyline and soundtrack.
Next to these two I think FFVII for it being an impressive game for the first 3d FF.

FF4 and 6 rocked. I found the job system on FF5 was kind of tedious but it let you shape your characters the way you wanted them to be. I just didn't like the guys name... Butz...Butts... But I really liked FF7, I for one would love to see the game be completed and reissued so we can get all the cool sidequests and stuff.

i personally liked FF7 the most.. it was one of the first games that i got after i got my PSX.. i played 4, 7,8,9,10 and i liked 7 the most cuz of the storyline and all the fun things u can do (Gold Saucer

)
FF3 or 6 in japanese is still one of the best to me.. It was the first RPG that made me go wow... From the Opera scene to the scene where you either wait or don't wait for the ninja.. to the cool final battle score.
FF7 definitely rank right up there too..

well, i've only played FFVII and FFVIII. i can't really decide.
FFVII i hadn't played in ages so i can't remember a lot of the things that happened. i remember it had a darker plot than FFVIII (and i love dark plots, not too happy like FFVIII), but a lot of stuff i didn't understand (i was only 12, and not too smart). with FFVIII i liked the characters more than FFVII, the plot seemed ok, but the ending was too happy.
Sesshomaru, can you give a brief review of FF6? convince me to by it
oh yeah, how's FFIV? i've heard people say that it's pretty good...
KoRn, i am looking forward to FFX-2...if only i had a PS2...

12? When FF7 came out? That would make the lovely and talented Nazza 17 or 18. I for some reason thought you were a bit younger but then I wasn't sure. Sometimes, you can be mature beyond your years. I dunno what I'm talking about. I'm sick and heavily medicated.

ALAS NAZZA YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY GIRL TO PLAY RPGS!!! I AM A GIRL AND LOVE RPGS!!! AND YER ABOUT THE SAME AGE AS I!!!

LOL

HAD IT NOT FOR RPG'S I WOULD NOT BE INTO ASIAN MUSIC!!! I LOVED the song "Eyes on Me" I love faye wong!!!! Then there was the movie theme "spirit dreams inside" from L'arc which was cool too
My fav is FF6 but I liked 7 too because of the nifty mini games at Gold Saucer are cool....I also enjoy the Aeris Death song orchestrated but then again I also like the Pray songs from FF6... im rambling sorry..I'm hoping to at least minor in music when i go to college in 2 years
I didnt enjoy 9 because i think taht having a theif as a main character lacks something 10 was pretty cool I wanna try X-2 but im a little weary hearing that some parts are interactive like action games which kinda stretches it for a FF but they havent failed me with trying new things before so Im ready to play... But then again I'm ready to play 11 and it hasnt come out yet!!!!

I like most Final fantasy games.

"Sesshomaru, can you give a brief review of FF6? convince me to by it"
Ok, ill break it up.
Story: In my opinion, the best of all final fantasy games. Very original characters who all fit in with the storyline except some of the hidden characters, not just thrown in at a random time. The story at the start revolves around the empire who are extracting the power of "Espers" (Magical Beings) to make a powerful army and conquer the world, and the "Returners" who fight against them. A girl being controlled by the empire is made to attack a town containing the remains of an esper. This is how the story starts, but I dont want to ruin the rest =) Be assured that if you enjoyed the the stories of FFVIII and VII then you will love this one.
9.5/10
Music: Brilliant, matched in my opinion only by FFIV. This is to be expected as Final Fantasy is known well for its music. Despite being on the super nintendo the music is very clear and nice to listen to. Some brilliant tracks on this soundtrack, my fave probably being the overworld theme.
9/10
Gameplay: Well, its quite basic to todays standards but at the time it was top notch. Still, the combat and magic system isnt that far off that of VII. The summon system works quite well, to summon espers you need to equip their "Magicite" (Remains of an esper). Once you have equipped that magicite you can summon that esper once during combat, in addition you gain Spell Points after every battle, which give you new spells depending on the esper that you have equipped. If you are using Ifrit for example, that character will learn fire spells whereas if you use Shiva that character will learn ice spells. This lets you make some quite interesting mixes of characters. One drawback to this is that if you train for a long time then you can have a group of excessively strong characters. Each character has a special ability, ranging from sword techniques to painting the enemy and using their attacks against them. Overall FFVI has some interesting concepts of the Final Fantasy system that im sure fans will enjoy
8/10
Graphics: Its super nintendo graphics. BUT, though it didnt utilise the SuperFX chip, it was impressive for the time. Dont except any flashy GL effects is all im saying =)
For its time - 9/10
Now - 2/10
Overall: A must have for any final fantasy fan, many including myself consider this to be the high time of the series. The playstation installment of FFVI however would unfortunately be rated lower due to the HORRIBLE and I mean HORRIBLE load times inbetween battles/areas. The snes embarasses the PSX in this department. I would suggest emulating it.
9/10

Nice reviews!I guess my reviews would be almost the same as yours but I have a different taste on the graphics and sound so I rate it much lower at 7.5-8.5 out of 10

they should really re-make the good classic Final Fantasies for the PS2
AtlantisStar
Jul 2 2003, 04:12 PM
Ok stating lol: I am a BIG FF fan. They are my favorite series! 1rst to Resident Evil (biohazard)
Final Fantasy VII was great a true classic which undeniably had a excellent story. It had great extras and an enormous amount of sidequests which will keep you on your couch snapping the controller in two!
A
Final Fantasy VI however had the best story in entire series. It contained romance, drama, action, a definite plot, side quests extras (not as much as 7 but they're great)
A+
Final Fantasy VIII was the worst! The graphics yes were stunning however the story and game lacked complexity as it did in VI and VII. Bragging about the fact it showed intense romance, Final Fantasy VIII stands out very stale with romance. The game is VERY narrow with little sidequests and extras such as extra gaurdians, weapons, items. The effort Squaresoft put in this game was towards the graphics rather than the plot!
D-
Final Fantasy IX was exceptionally well compared to the stale breads of Final Fantasy VIII. The graphics were breathtaking! Squaresoft squeezed the PSX's juices to create a great cup of Final Fantasy IX. The story is complex and attention grabbing which gives you a definite 9 out of 10 average
A-
Final Fantasy IV had nothing to get hyped up about. The graphics were great (at the time of their release) and did concentrate on the battle systems more than it did elsewhere. Unlike the other FF's, FFIV didn't show much effort on bringing the characters emotional situations to the to players perspective. There wasn't a lot of conversation. The story seemed a little frivolous and a bit beyond. The player is given VERY little information on what happens in the world and then is informed of something bigger! For example, at first you know there are 4 crystals, later you know that there is another 4 crystals unfound, then you find out that there are more than just 8 crystals! You have to attempt to follow the crystals from the earth, to the underworld and then to the moon!
B-
Final Fantasy V was OK. The story isn't really developed but the battle system was great. The jobs are very clever and helped you in tight situations. There is never a dose where the action is boring. The action in the game was very concentrated on and gives it a higher definition to this game.
C+
Final Fantasy X was a graphic masterpiece! There were a LOT of conversations which gives you a very good definition of their emotional status! The relationship between every character is clearly expressed. The battle system is nothing to get hyped about. Romance is very well expressed in the game.

Sesshomaru thanx for the review, it was really good...i wanna try it out now

i'm glad that you talked about characters' emotions...i think that's what drew me in the most in the games, the storyline and character development/feelings.

Man, FFVII was my fav. The storyline was awesome, and I really liked the dark, grungy look. I guess what really made it great, was all the characters, story twists, and extra bosses (I mean, who didn't enjoy kicking emerald and ruby weapon's butts??). The minigames were pretty cool too. Snowboarding down the mountain? I had to have played just that game a couple hundred times! Yep, yep, the minigames were much, much, more fun than FFVIII (who really liked playing cards?).

Hey I'm back!! But, I have FF 7,8,9,10, and tactics. MY fav. Is proly 7,cause the story line and the chars. But, I liked 8 too cause the same reasons. 10 was ok, but I'm waiting to get X-2 and play that. But, the one I'm really looking forward to getting is FF7-2. It's going to be so awsome, FF7 was really awsome, and now a sequal to it is proly not going to be any better but it's going to be pretty good. But, 7 and 8 is my favs.( Oh, and I was the best at the cards!! And all the mini games, on all FF's. )

I only played 7,8,9,10 and thought they were all great. I could not pick a favorite because all the stories were good and each one has different good qualities about it. The one I liked the least was 8 because of the Draw Magic System. I also didnt like the fact that you couldnt level up to beat tough bosses because they would level up with you. The only way to get past them was to equip more powerful magic.

VII had such a sad ending
VI is longer than VII only if the sidequests (a large amount) is played.
I'm really stuck between VI and VII.
Personally VI can overcome any of the Final Fantasy ones music-wise.
VIII was horrible showing the emotions of the characters, hardly influenced love.
VI was more of a tragedy showing people with sad and emotional pasts who try to help the world because they really don't have anyone to spend their lives with. VII had kinda the opposite, VII focused that the characters all went on the adventure because they feel it's their duty to for they have someone that they care about, or want to know of their origins and the world.

I went to Japanese sites looking for other FF sequels (as you know they have more info than the English ones) and I saw nothing of it.
Personally, I don't see what you can do with the world of FFVII anymore, the ending pretty much sums the entire thing up. Though I do support Square-Enix making one of it.
FFVI has already been made into another title called "Shadows of Light" but was never released in the US.
Sad, such an excellent story.

Hehe, well It better be true about it comming out, cause if it isnt I'm going to cry.....
And I have gotten to the ending of FF7 fighting Seph. at the end, but he has so many forms and i just gave up....And for the end of FF8 ( that was an awsome one too! ) Uh...Does Squall really die? Cause like people say he lives, people says he dies...And I have this music video of FF4( i think ) through 8 and at the end it shows Rinoa ( dont know how to spell her name

) holding him in her arms crying and hes just laying there and then like a light or something comes down or something.....AND I REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!
Nazza
Jul 30 2003, 01:30 AM
SPOILER ALERT! (for FFVIII)
....
....
....
Squall does NOT die at the end (or maybe he did die and Rinoa brought him back to life...either way, he isn't dead at the end of the game)...if you wait long enough the credits will roll, with a funny little video at the side which is like a video recording of what happens some time after the final battle (i dunno, maybe straight after, or a day or so later), showing Selphie and Irvine video taping inside the garden. after the credits and that video have finished, there's a CG of Rinoa pointing up to the sky and then Squall is shown (alive). he gazes into Rinoas eyes and he smiles (yes he actually smiles) at her, then kisses her...*spew* too much of a happy ending to me...

I still haven't finished FF8. But reading a little about the ending made me really excited. I guess I have to power up a little more so I can finally beat Adel. And continue with the game.
But I also voted for FF8. I love the game, it was my first FF and I was really amazed, because I've never played a game like that. It had so many different elements I liked.
I also want to play FF7 but it is so hard to find the game. I did find a gamestore, that "had" the game. So I'll look there again sometime. It sounds really exciting and I personally like, slightly depressing games
FFX is an amazing game too. I like the idea of Sin as a huge monster that only destroys. And a religion like Yevon were everybody falls back on. The characters are ok too, esp. Auron and Lulu. And I love the fact you can switch between characters while fighting. It really ads a lot more depth to the battle system. Because you have to use the character who can attack the weakness of a monster.

FF7 all the way. In my opinion, its the greatest game ever created in the world. its what got me into RPGs in the first place. It took me a good freakin' 3 years to beat it, but that was because i was trying to breed a gold chocobo and defeat emerald and ruby weapon (I couldn't accomplish any of this

yeah, for FFVII i remember spending ages trying to breed the golden chocobo to get that "Knights of the Round" materia and i could never breed one...yeah...it really pissed me off. also i couldn't defeat the ruby or emerald weapon...i remember trying and dying many times so i decided to just finish the game instead. but then again, i don't think i really had a deep understanding of the weapons and the materia junctioning things. i don't think i even knew how to max out stats...is that possible? i haven't played FFVII in a long time so assume that i am an idiot when it comes to FFVII.

1) If you're fighting against weapon, link Final Attack with Phoenix. It will revive the party if everyone dies at one time.
2) Try using W-Summon and KOTR.
3) If you can figure out a way to get All Lucky Sevens, tell me! It will help a lot!!

But I didn't realize how screwy going through a game multiple times was until I played Chrono Cross to get all the bloody Characters!!! It took FOREVER!!!
