Like other SEAs with Chinese surnames admit to and actually have Chinese Ancestry. But where do Hmongs get their names? I just really wonder..

I believe our surnames came from the chineese when they conquered and ruled us. Like the different types of hmong (green, white, flowery, etc.) they gave it to us for the purpose of segregation

That is actually not true. Our different types of clothing are due to long contact with different ethnic groups along the way. Despite the diversity in our clothes, you can see the similar patterns in all Hmong clothes - silver, skirt, long skirt, designs, flower designs, geometric patterns, motifs, and etc...

Our surnames are not from the Chinese. Our surnames unlike most asian groups are very very very important. It allows us to trace our ancestors origin. Our surnames are very important to funeral rituals and other cultural activities. Each surnames have its own origin and folktale.

We came from China, this is why they sound and spell like Chinese surnames, but it has nothing to do with originating from the Chinese.
