Where I am right now, you have to travel to New Jersey or to Queens just to go to Real Filipino Restaurants. What are your Favorite Filipino foods? What are you craving right now? I usually get:

im lucky in LA there are plenty of great fil-food places in Eagle Rock, West Co, Van Nuys and Downtown... but i just can't get passed my lola's mongo beans

i love that stuff so much. the next time she makes it, i'll post a picture

hey hamlet, what kind of food does your family cook? of course they're Chinese and Filipino, but do they synthesize dishes? like i don't know, sweet and sour adobo or some$hit?

LOL no. no 'fusion' type stuff. hahaa.
but my family cooks both. more often than not we have filipino and chinese food during the same meal.
except for breakfast. with breakfast it's either american style breakfast, longsilog or i go 'yumcha' at some chinese restaurant.
you can't mix longanisa with siomai. that'd be horrible.

I like me some tinapang bangus (smoked milkfish). As soon as I smell it being fried, I feel like I;m back in the PI. The black fatty part is the best!

No, they are not the same.
If I'm not mistaken, bopis is comprised mainly of internal organs (lungs, liver, kidney, heart, etc).
The main components of sisig is taken from the head of the pig: the pork cheeks, ears, and nose.

I like kare-kare, dinuguan, and tocino.
I can't stand tilapia(its aquariam fish) and bangus is just disgusting.
My lola makes the best mungo...ever.

I prefer munggo with ampalaya leaves, and sometimes the fruit as well!

As for the malunggay, we use either the leaves or fruit (if it is young and tender enough).
