Sanskrit.
jiggyiggy
sure
Jagger
Sanskrit doesn't sound smooth or poetic, but sounds too stale and formulaic. Would you consider that beautiful?
ÉvaristeGalois
lol stale? where are you getting that from? are you saying that because it was
made more grammatical and systematic over the centuries? All grammars have a system, even the most natural ones. Besides, i also like it cause its easy to learn.
-=(-_-)=- HI-hit
can you send us an example for the ppl who dnt know what Sanskrit sounds like
ACMILAN1983
I wouldn't say Sanskrit sound anymore beautiful than most languages (I guess it depends on what each individual finds beautiful), but I think it's beautiful in it's impressive attention to detail and concise and unambiguous nature.

What I meant is that Sanskrit sounds too cold and straightforward. The tone of Sanskrit isn't smooth and poetic like other classical languages.

I really do like the sound of sanskrit. Especially in the sound of mantras. It makes feel very relax and a feeling of well being.

I really don't think Sanskirt is the most beautiful language. Besides, being beautiful is quite subjective. I think it depends on the person who is talking, and I certainly don't think just because sanskrit has a perferct grammatical structure or something it is perfect.

Although, I find a certain serenity in sanskrit shlokas when they are read by multiple priests (atleast 6-12). I haven't found that peacefulness in any other languages.

Besides that, there is really nothing beautiful abt sanskrit. Since its a sacred langauge ppl like to to elevate it to a higher status.

I agree with jiggy that Sanskrit is a bit formulaic.

I have heard Greek and it sounds smoother than Sanskrit in my opinion. A cheese grater doesn't sound too bad either.

My name is not jiggy. The only thing we might have in common is black pride.

In your opinion.

As far as I'm concerned, Greek is a clunky and rough language best left in Greece.

Battlestar Galactica U.K. Title Music and U.S. Season 2 Main Title Music. The lyrics are in Sanskrit more specifically the revered "Gayatri Mantra" is recited. A bit of careful listening and you will know. Listen to this song and open your closed minds.

I had to learn the Gayatri mantra by heart when I did the upanayana ceremony.

It doesn't matter if Gayatri Mantra is being used in Battlestar Galactica, I don't think just because Gayatri Mantra is being recited in opening credits of Galactica that makies it any beautiful.

Have you heard any Sanskrit song other than usual recital of Shlokas in puja ceremonies? I think you never did hear any. The point is whether it can be used in a song or not. I have proved my point that Sanskrit can be used in a song just like any other language. Battlestar Galactica is not in my focus, but the song is. And in my opinion Sanskrit is a beautiful language.

Why it is weird? It is a language just like any other language. It has all the traits of a perfect language. There is some similarity between Battlestar Galactica and most Hindu pujas they both start with the "Gayatri Mantra".

I meant it was weird for me to see it as I never guessed I'd hear the Gayatri mantra as the intro for a popular American tv show.

I have been watching Battlestar Galactica since the miniseries began. So what if sanskirt can be used in a song, how on earth does that make it beautiful, and how have u proved ur point? Every language on earth can be used in a song, haven't u ever heard a hindi song?

As I said, beauty is subjective, so If you think sanskrit is beautiful well i am not going to deny your personal belief; but if you say sanskrit is the most beautiful language, then I certainly object to that statement.

I have been hearing / reciting sanskrit shlokas since i was a kid, and have won numeros awards. Yes I won awards on memorzing/reciting reciting sanskirt shlokas. I don't even know what those awards / certificates are for now, but I memorized way too many shlokas when I was a kid, as my father wanted me to fill in my grandpa's shoes who happened to be a sanskrit pundit.

Really, there is nothing special about sanskrit. Ppl just elevate it to a new level because it is sacred. Sanskrit is no different than Tamil, German, Latin. It is just a dead language that happens to be sacred.

The grammar of Sanskrit is considered the foundation of modern linguistics. Several Western scholars even regard Panini's grammar of Sanskrit as "one of the greatest monuments of human intelligence". That is partly the reason why Sanskrit has received so much attention among linguists.
