They’re just like everybody else. Some are nice and some, I wish, should go back to where they come from. Most Koreans I have met are nice and appreciative of the beauty of the Philippines.
But I think there are some issues regarding Koreans. Some of them put up businesses here and have a few gullible Filipinos who will act as the “owner”. If they get busted, it’s the ignorant Filipino who gets into trouble while the Korean can go back to Korea or relocate. I wonder if it’s the Koreans who will soon replace the Chinese in economic dominance. I don’t like stereotyping but it seems like Korean men do have a bad reputation esp. with taxi drivers. When I was in Cebu, this taxi driver was complaining about the few times he witnessed incidents of Korean men physically abusing Pinay GROs. I also heard the same thing from another taxi driver in Manila. hmmmm
Oh and the immigrants are your typical “clicky(?)” immigrant. May sariling mundo. Masaya na sila na sila sila lang. Gusto nila ang Pilipinas dahil di hamak na mas maraming magagandang tanawin dito kesa sa Korea pero parang wala silang balak na makihalabilo sa Pinoy. oh well... kawalan nila yan

Hmmm, based on my experience.... when i left Philippines in 99 i havnt really met any Koreans there... maybe becasue the whole Korean Teleserye thing hasnt boomed yet. I have met a lot of korean classmates and co-workers where i am right now and so far they are ok. I got a korean teacher once and he is kinda have this "mataas ang ere" thing going on, but there are some who are really nice... mostly the ones that just got here.

same here i get along Koreans/Japanese better than chinese. it maybe because we are largest group here in SF. also its the atitiude of Koreans too. its just like they won't put BS with others and they are starting assimuulate into other subculture.
but chinese i just continue to let them go about their business around here.

here in the midwest, there isn't much of an asian division. I guess it's because there's so few out here. We all just stick together. Out here, whether you're Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, or Korean, You're my Bro.

I think some other Asian culture view us negatively because we have a more... uh... festive culture. As opposed to a more docile culture that some other Asians have. I can tell this because sometimes we'll have Filipinos parties in a Chinese restaurant. And the Chinese waiters always look pissed maybe because we're being loud & having a good time. Iono, but I love my loud, festive Filipino culture. Another thing I noticed is how different our parents are. I have a few Japanese & Korean friends and one time I asked them if their parents ever get together w/ their other Japanese & Korean friends, they said no. They describe their parents as being somewhat anti-social. I could never imagine an anti-social Filipino. But the parents that i did meet were still very nice, just shy. As opposed to that Filipino mom who is so eager to meet anybody. But yeah, it's just a difference in cultures i guess.

^h*ll yeah! We are definitely the most festive out of the Asian cultures. may fiesta tayo para sa lahat na ocassion. It's like "Jojo lost his tooth! Let's have a party!!". Almost every aspect of the filipino tradition is communal.

Mar 17 2007, 12:56 AM
^ I think it has to do w/ their language. I noticed that Vietnamese ppl are loud too. But that's not what i meant by loud. I meant the party, happy, festive type of loud. Korean ppl are loud whether they're angry, sad, mad, w/e. It's just how they speak.
salted_ham
Mar 17 2007, 01:07 AM
yeah, they speak SO loud. It's like the one they're talking to is on the otherside of the mountain.
Koreans love partying, especially when they're with fellow Koreans. They're ot really that reserved as we think. =)
