If you're not familiar with the tabo, allow us to introduce you to one of the world's greatest inventions.
tabo t´abo' n. a dipper, scoop, usually a coconut shell or an empty can. "the filipino toilet's right hand man."
To elaborate, the tabo is part of the filipino heritage. Before showers, toilets and toilet paper, filipinos would use the tabo to help cleanse themselves. Nowadays with the invention of the shower & toilet, the tabo usually has but one main use in the filipino home, to wash your buttocks and for women, the female area as well. It has evolved from a coconut shell to a pail, a small bucket, a pot or those plastic coin buckets you get from casinos. =)
But why use a tabo if we have toilet paper? There is more than one answer to that question. Firstly the use of toilet paper, especially for the not so rich, can get quite costly. So its more economically efficient to use the tabo. Secondly using just toilet paper is not very sanitary, period. Gross!
Show your tabo pride and submit a link to a picture of you with your tabo!
