ur such a hater. you've never been to the states (or probably anywhere outside 'pinas) & yet ALL u do is talk smack all the time about filos that live abroad. please be less envious of people, my dear. hindi bagay sa yo. btw... PI stands for pacific islander. hehehehe joke lang. peace on earth. biggrin.gif

KristlehI
^well we're just on the same boat. a filipino overseas talking about things happening in the Phils. as if she knows everything.

well i've been to europe (UK, netherlands, and austria) and i never felt envious to filipinos living there. i never dreamt of being stereotyped as a mail-order bride. a forgive me i'm a fob, i worship spanish culture and i can't preserve my culture. biggrin.gif

just so you know, the amboy joke has been a long-time joke. i was merely repeating the joke which you probably didn't get. ah but you know that already since you're an expert about affairs in the Philippines just as I am an expert about life of Filipinos overseas.
JMAC
^ I think she was just mocking you, aysus serioso ka naman! embarassedlaugh.gif
KristlehI
^ but it's true you know. i'm envious of you guys. i like the smell of dollars whether it's canadian or US. look at me, peso lang ang magiging sweldo. and I am surrounded by future fobs of america and canada who worship the spanish. and I live in tondo, my god. i've always dreamt of living in the land of milk and honey. biggrin.gif hehehehe

biro lang. ang bansang pinapangarap kong tirhan ay ang mexico, ang lupa ng mga beaners or wetbacks kung tawagin ng iba. i want to reconnect with our former conquistadors since spain colonized us through mexico. biggrin.gif

JMAC
ano ba yan?? binibiro mo ako? madgo.gif sino ka ba ha? walang hiya! Talktohand.gif icon_redface.gif biro biro lang!

Instead of reconnecting I would suggest insurgency and intifada like ideology to bring those conquistadores down to their knees! icon_twisted.gif
KristlehI
^other than your suggestion, how can we ship them back to spain?
flipcombatmedic
but PI could also mean "P utang I na", "PokPok Ire", "Pilay sa Ilog" etc. etc. like the US could mean "Usher is $hitty", "United Shackles", "Untimely Shorthanded"

JMAC

Philippine Islands. Because its what the archipelago was called before we became a republic. Our grandparents who once lived here during the american period then migrated to the U.S. still refers to the archipelago as P.I. even after it became a republic.

Pasig Ilog?

I just say Philippines. Republic of Philippines sounds too formal. I've never heard anyone over here refering to Philippines as PI.

You're right, PI refers to Philippine Islands during American occupation because this is what the Postal abbreviation of the islands back then.

This same goes with Hawaii when it was still a US territory, it was called Hawaiian Islands back then and the postal abbreviation is HI, but when Hawaii entered the Union in 1959, Hawaiian Islands became just Hawaii, but the postal abbreviation remains though.

Anways, PI can also refer to the British territory in the Pacific, the Pitcairn Islands.

Also the term PI is also mean Pekpek Inspector, this according to a friend of mine referring to his girlfriend's job as a Gynaecologist. icon_smile.gif
