My list are:

Sanjaya Malakar (although he is half-indian)
Uma Pemmaraju (Fox News)
The Desi Doctor in ER (She was in Bend it like Beckham)
The guy in Pizza Ad (I am also seeing him in Jon Stewarts' show nowadays)

East Bengal is in Bangladesh, not India. Sanjaya is half West Bengali (which is in India).

I used to turn a blind eye at it and even have hypocrital views about it, but when I think about it and look around, the out-marriage rates for Indian Americans are horrid.

malakar is a marathi name. east bengali names are like chaterjee, mukherjee and all that.

I think Najjah is right. Malarkar is indeed a Marathi surname. But I am not too sure.

My mum told me malakar is a bona-fide marathi name! So, I am going to go with that!
