'CNN Effect'
When things go awry in the Philippines — terrorist bombings, businesspeople kidnapped, journalists killed, floods — the international media arrive in force to report the news.
When things are going well in this nation of 91 million people, the world's biggest news organizations seem less interested. The latter is occurring at this very moment.
Even as the Philippines grows at a healthy pace and important progress is made toward narrowing its budget deficit, investors aren't rushing this way. The stock market also remains quite volatile; it lost nearly 8 percent after a slump in Chinese shares triggered a global rout last month.
In some ways, this is a region-wide phenomenon. Bad memories die hard, and that's certainly the case since the 1997-1998 Asian crisis. While investors are rediscovering Asia, the quickness with which many began doubting the region's outlook after China's stock plunge suggests much skepticism remains.

I think the most important factor that will make or break the Philippines is how we Filipinos view the Philippines. For it is entirely up to us to determine what direction our country will take.

^true. punyetang CNN yan. hehehehe.
pero kahit naapektuhan ang ekonomiya natin dahil sa kalokohan ng CNN na yan, nagpapasalamat pa din ako because it drives most tourists away. instead, they go to Indonesia and Thailand. yipeeeeeee
napaka-delicate ng sitwasyon ng natural resouces natin... yung biodiversity ng bansa. this is not the time to accommodate gazillions of tourist. sa boracay pa lang, binalita na overcrowded na dun. unti unti ng nasisira yung ganda.

I don't find it surprising at all.
http://igorotblogger.blogspot.comInternally, Filipinos depict each other the same way....
Rather than ranting why don't we take it as a challenge to repair our image?

No....Philippines being labeled dangerous makes the sex tourist think second thoughts of going to Pinas.
They should start kidnapping those sickos and making videos of their wee-wees being cut off. Intimidation

Nah.... there are more sex tourists that actual tourists... because maybe the real tourists are afraid that these Pinays will milk them.. those tourists who come here are probably the ones who have ordered their "brides"

Thats very different..because they r actually marrying them. Maybe the casual..."Im going to get laid by 3 women at once" type of tourist won't come.

they come.
the tourists who don't come are the ones who go sight seeing or those who try to enjoy the culture.

No they don't....I actually know this. I was reading an expat forum recently. Alot of would be sex tourists who went to thailand were turned away to the Philippines by the violence and terrorism.

haha.. as if there's no violence in Thailand? There's an insurgency in the south.. just like the Philippines. Insurgency in the south.
Real tourists turn to Thailand and avoid the Philippines

Nobody's turning the Philippines into a Thailand-like sex tourism hub.
Thailand can have all the sex tourists they want. If any of those sons of b!tches ever set foot in my country, I'mma go over there and castrate those motherfu-kers personally.

It is normal abt this negative thingy in the media.
Just see, they only show the negativity in Islam such as the terrorism.
The murders etc in Philippines.
bla bla bla... there are lots of it...
it is normal... there are more positive things than negative thing..
it is normal for human to see negative news abt others.. more people insult others than praise others.
