Even If I were to have single eye lids I wouldn't change it. There nothing wrong with single eyelids and I couldn't image my b/f with big eyeslids like me and I don't want it to happen.

^You do have nice eyelids. You're very pretty! And not because you have big eyes.
I have pseudo lids. That means there's a crease, but it's covered by excess skin.
I've considered getting surgery to remove the skin for medical reasons. My lids are forcing my lashes to gradually curve downwards into my eyes.

I hear so many Asian girls/women undergoing eyelid surgery because they say they want to look "prettier," and that it's easier to apply make-up.
However, what about having surgery out of medical necessity i.e. vision impairment?

my older sister went through the same thing. she got surgery on her bottom lids first (uncommon) cause her lashes were scratching her actual eye lenses. a few years later, when we went to korea she had the top ones done because she couldnt get contacts in because her lashes pointed downward. i have single, and my lashes point downward too, but i dont have any medical problems with them, just more annoying when i try to curl my lashes or wear eye makeup.

i wonder if they have surgery for single eyelids...
you know. to make a double into a single.
i bet once china becomes an economic power, people will want to imitate the chinese again,
then, single eyelids may become popular! and the whole role will reverse.
imagine all those people who had surgery before to look one way, needing surgery to get back to their old form.

To be honest, I want to have double eyelids. Don't know if I want to actually DO it tho. First of all, I dont' know how I'll react to my face when I wake up every morning and see the mirror and think that this face doesn't belong to me.. second of all, I think its good to stay natural, even if you're ugly, and last of all, I'm so not into the whole consequences thing. I dont' want the eyelid to droop when I get older.

dont waste your money on that stuff, I got double eyelids by simply raking my fingernail over my eyelids a few times. no damage at all, and they stay in.

I am double lidded but my eyes can come out of its crease sometimes and it looks a bit odd. The double lid thing does make a huge difference to appearance and being able to apply makeup. It annoys me a bit when people who have double lids, go on about how the surgery is stupid etc (fair enough people have thier own opinions) when they themselves havent had single lids before. Dont get me wrong, I do like single lids but for MY face I look better with double lids (which is what i mainly have) because I dont have a nice nose/face structure so I just try make the best with my eyes. I do admire beautiful people with single eyelids though, like blisskiss as she has a really nice nose, full lips and pretty face in general which makes her unique looking.

oh my, blush blush... oh man... that was really sweet of you to say! yay for being unique!! (which is true i guess...i havent seen anyone who looks like me before) i'd rather be unique than just look like girls who all look like each other. I do always want to stick up for the single-eyelidded people though. People have asked me about if i would do the surgery, but i always say no.

gotta try love who ya are, ya know?

big eyes are naturally attractive. not racist or anything, for the answer turn to our babies.
babies are genetically predispositioned to look 'cute' and adorable. therefore the mother will take care of them more.
they've done research where they rated babies on their attractiveness, and they found that mothers would care more for more adorable and attractive babies.
babies usually have big eyes, with long lashes, a small upturned nose, full cheeks, and a natural blush.
once they grow up they usually lose these features.

Don't let Western perseption of beauty influence how you feel about your appearance.
edenfield
Aug 23 2004, 01:44 PM
it's not a western perception at all.
it's just an inlaid natural reaction that we all have.
of course i'm not saying that people with single eyelids or small eyes aren't beautiful, there are many beautiful people.
it's just that we are genetically predispositioned to this.

This is for most mamals.
Why u think Bambi has so big eyes?
Why we think dogs are cute.
Why we find most big eyed animal cute. Giraff for example whereas we hate small slinted animals like lizards.
Have you never seen a cartoon when they give the cute little animal big eyes whereas the other bad animal gets small eyes.
