I'm sure everyone has heard about this many times but I always want to know what other people think about this.

The Lion King was a very popular Disney movie about a lion in the jungle. While Disney claims that Lion King was an original idea another anime with the exact same story and same characters existed. That anime is Janguru Taitei or the American translation, Kimba the White Lion. Disney continues to lie to the people that none of its employees had heard about Kimba or Leo, the original name of the character, when Lion King was in production.

It is obvious that Lion King was a complete ripoff of Jungle Taitei but Disney continues to refuse to acknowledge this. This is a complete breach of international copyright laws and Tezuka Osamu should receive compensation for this. What do you all think?

That's what makes me mad. Lion King is the one that will receive more fame even though it is based on complete and utter plagiarism. Until Disney admits its crime and pays for its sins, I don't think justice is being served.
ranmatatsumaru
I never saw Lion King.
What other animations has Disney ripped off?
Made in China
The Americans stole everything from Japanese, from Pokemon, to Digimon, Samarai JAck, tons of other anime cartoons based off Japanese creations.
Kulong
It shouldn't be a surprise that Americans stole this idea from the Japanese. Remember that cartoon "Treasure Planet"? I remember seeing some controversial articles about Americans copying that idea from an anime too.
ranmatatsumaru
Can't Americans come up with thier own stuff?

They can, and they have, but because US is just a capitalistic society, often times morales and values take a backseat to the dollar sigh $$$

Talking about Lion King!! How come the uncle wants to kill his own nephew??? Do you have any story accurate as that ??? I am love too much on that movie!!! embarassedlaugh.gif
Jigoku Z
I wouldn't be surprise if it was true. And it wouldn't be the first time US copied what isn't theirs and made it their own.

Duh, considering the nephew king is naive and young, of course the uncle would want to take advantage of him.

I've seen Kimba the white lion. In fact I still have its video. It's nothing like the lion king. It's waaaaay different.
