lol, you don't really know what your talking about, non-desis don't really know anything about the desiness. In fact you shouldn't even use the term since you don't know $hit about it.

Most non-Indians don't know about the word Desi. Some South Indians and Sri Lankans also don't like the word Desi, because they think it's too Northie-centric or something like that.

Some also think that only Indians deserve the term Desi, and that Pakistanis shouldn't be included.

South Asian is easier.

YEP YOU ARE RIGHT! Indians aren't asians and neither are Chinese Japanese and Koreans. They should also call them orientals or something, and leave the word Asian to Turkish poeple, since it was applied to them originally.

Now, Orientals was also the term originally applied to Near East People, so I guess CJK people should call themselves Mongoloids, and stop these confusing terms.

Now, wouldn't that make the world a bit more better and easier to understand icon_wink.gif

A good example of a foolish thread with no common-sense and no knowledge. The word "Desi" literally means "Native". It is a Hindi word. Hindi is a North-Indian language.

Yeah, that's the reason why some Southerners and Sri Lankans told me why they don't see why they should have to call themselves Desi.
