I'm moving to Foshan next Sunday. My problem is my plane arrives in Hong Kong late in the evening so I'll have to stay over night and catch a ferry the following morning. Every hotel I've looked up online costs 300-500 US per night. As an English teacher, my monthly wage will only be 6000 RMB so 300-500 US is way to much. I'd rather just crash at the airport.

My question is this, are the hotels in Hong Kong mainly for American tourists? Is there a second rate for Chinese visitors or do they pay these prices as well when they travel to Hong Kong? Or do they go to different hotels and if so, which ones?

Thanks

Hotels are super expensive in Hong Kong especially central, unlesss you got friends or family the only alternative is to try hostels which are quite cheap google for hostels in Hong Kong.

ooh i have friends from Foshan it's a good city! in Hong Kong they have the same prices regardless of nationality. China used to have 2nd rates but I don't know if it's that way anymore. Look up the Youth Hostel Association in Hong Kong, it's cheap there..about $20 a night. enjoy your stay!

they're in creepy smelly alleys.

i remember last time i was in HK me and my bro played a game called "how many people do you think got raped in that alley?" (along with "guess the gender of that ambiguous gender person over there!" and "how many white people can you count in __ minutes?")

last time in hong kong i stayed here: http://www.rosedale.com.hk/en/home/index.php

quite cheap for it's location. however it's in one of the hippest areas. embarassedlaugh.gif the problem is that there aren't that many hotels near the airport, and the ones that exist are either expensive b/c they know how important the location is, or they're shady and not recommended for people who don't speak cantonese...

and i think the rates are the same.
