The one on the escalator or in the store were the funniest. Ya, I think they were being courteous too... cause not all of em were Japanese :P.

yeah alot of people...(ALOT, especially moms) use bikes as transportation regularly on sidewalks and roads. So it's pretty normal for a person to move aside if they hear a bike bell.......

icon_redface.gif icon_redface.gif Sometimes......even tho the bike is on another sidewalk.....I'll still move aside by habit if I hear the bell go 'ching!'....hahahahahahahaaa....very embarrasing.

While we were in Japan... we didn't move at all. Even if the person rung their bell or asked politely to move aside. Mostly cause we couldn't understand or hear them, then when we noticed we'd jump out of the way like they were a speeding train. Now that was even MORE embarrassing.
