its a pity to see malaysians not proud of their own mother tongue...bahasa malaysia.

kalau nak post dalam BM...tak de masalah.

It's sad to see that u couldn't even write a proper sentence in Bahasa Malaysia even though it's just a few words"Kalau nak memberi apa-apa komen dalam BM,silakan"

Virtually every Malaysian of the new generation can at least speak Bahasa well enough to get along.

It must be remembered that not all contributors to this site are Malaysian.

Give me a break. At least I am taking attempts to relearn it.

That is because the conditions in Malaysia favour those whose mother tongue it is Bahasa Malaysia.

Why should those Malaysians be grateful when thier own govnt discriminates against them? The govnt favourable discriminates against those Malaysians whose mother tongue is Bahasa. Those Malaysians whose mother tongue is not Bahasa are not necessarily less patriotic then their Bahasa counterparts. Have a look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seri_Pahlawan_Gagah_Perkasa. Malaysia's highest decoration, the vast majority of recipients come from a non Bahasa speaking background.

BTW isn't your Bahasa good enough that you can't help but use English words as well?

I cannot believe that you guys can talk and talk over the same issues over and over again

And getting "mental orgasm" in fighting over one another, dispersing ones comments, trying to vindicate your opinion, blaming others, and so forth is the best thing that you guys can talk about in this forum

Oh Bahasa Melayu dah ker skang ni... Bila tukar .... embarassedlaugh.gif

Bagi pendapat i la... sepatutnya rakyat Malaysia la pandai cakap bahasa orang-orang Malaysia... Tapi kalau kita tengok situasi hari ini... kebanyakan orang Malaysia tak suka cakap bahasa Malaysia, semua nak cakap bahasa oreng putih.... Macamla orang putih tu bagi dia makan free laugh.gif Baik cakap cam mamak dapat makan free kat kedai mamak....
Tapi kita kat Malaysia masih lagi respect mother tounge seseorang tu. Tapi faham-fahamla yer.. Takkan tak belajar dulu masa sekolah cakap bahasa Malaysia... Bukan nak suruh mengigau dalam bahasa Malaysia tapi berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Malaysia.... Sebab tu la foreigner cakap orang Malaysia tak bersatu-padu, sebab masing-masing cakap bahasa masing-masing pastu nak harapkan orang lain faham masalah dia lak... Give and take la bro...

Aku tengokla kebanyakan orang Malaysia memang giler nak sedut budaya orang putih pastu kutuk orang yang tak suka budaya orang putih cakap kolot la apela.
Blah la...

*Aku cakap bahasa Jerman*
Centurion
Aku setuju. Sememangnya warga Malaysia patut fasih cakap bahasa malaysia.

p.s. how is my BM? masih boleh tahan? icon_neutral.gif

Bahasa is not the only language spoken in Malaysia.

Although I believe that all Malaysians needs to speak Bahasa, it must be remembered that other languages are spoken at home. It must also be remembered that not so long ago the medium of instruction in Malaysia was English, therefor for those who were educated in English, most of them feel most comfortable speaking English. Its not about wanting to be "Orang Putih".

Whatever it is, there must be a chosen language that all citizens of a particular country can communicate in. In Malaysia it happens to be Bahasa. In Singapore, English.

English is the international language and it can be used whenever u go while Bahasa Malaysia is most likely only limited to be used in Southeast Asian countries and Middle Eastern countries.

I hope I don't offend anyone with this but Bahasa Malaysia is similar to only Bahasa Indonesia and it is only these 2 countries(plus a small number in Singapore) that speak these similar languages. As a national language on an international scale, BM is not important.

But you're right Japan has done a very good job protecting its culture. However it is my belief that some Japanese, in thier pride at their country do look down on other Asians.

no la, i am just trying to say those peoples who keep defending the important of having BM and took Japan as example.
to me, language just tool for communication... it doesn't matter which language we used as long we able to get the msg across to other party. no point to keep arguing abt something that is less important than keep improving ourself in other area like working attitude and so on....

i dont think malaysian dont want to speak malay at all, only small portion of its people mainly in urban area ( u know to be sophistacated has to speak foreign laguange and to avoid being label as 'budak kampung')

the rest still speaks in bahasa as their mother tongue

but the problem was when someone try to speak english, unfortunately they just replaced the words from malay to english in the middle of the sentence, mostly done by malaysian celeb-so lame!
i.e. "if i berlakon with him dia know me and i know dia", something like that lah!

Sometimes when you try to replace the whole phrase of english into malay, it sound not quite right. so we put some english words in the middle. i did it all the time. especially when discussing a rather high technical matters. i've met a malaysian chinese who can't even speak malay or english in a proper manner.
