i just watched macross zero
i found the artistic work pretty satisfying...but the whole concept and storyline is really mockable.
i'm really into jets and things like that, but the way they made the jet transform just became a big turn off for me. but still, i think the art work makes up the bad concepts
well, i'm wondering if anyone watched the original series the one with 2 seasons 50 episodes or something
and apparently the americans made their own series based on it...robotech something something...
is that worth watching?

No Robotech is just the English dubbed and edited version of the original Macross.
My favourite is Macross Plus, though I agree the artwork and the action on Macross Zero is amazing though. I love the jet turning into mech concept.

I only saw one episode of Macross Zero years ago, but I've pretty much seen every other Macross series ever released, including Macross/Robotech, Macross: Do You Remember Love?, Macross II, Macross Plus, Macross 7, Macross 7 Encore, and Macross 7 Dynamite. My favourite one is the movie, Macross: Do You Remember Love?, and then the original Macross/Robotech series and Macross 7 series.

only half-true because robotech was actually three completely different space operas retconned together. The first story arc was macross, the second one was 'super dimension cavalry southern cross' and the third was 'Genesis Climber Mospeada' which wasn't released on t.v.

. Haven't seen zero yet though. I might see it sometime.

I'm a big fan of Macross Plus, and it doesn't surprise me that the co-director, writer and composer ended up making the amazing Cowboy Bebop series.

I pretty much watch watch every Macross incarnation:
1. SDF: Macross TV series
2. Macross: Do You Remember Love the Movie
3. Macross Flashback 2012 OAV
4. Macross II: Lovers Again OAV
5. Macross Plus OAV & Movie version
6. Macross 7: The Galaxy is Calling Me the Movie
7. Macross 7 TV series
8. Macross 7 Dynamite OAV
9. Macross Zero OAV
In fact, I also follows faithfully of its Robotech version ... & Robotech in general.
Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed with new Macross series expected to debut either in 2008 - 2009, Macross Frontier.
I haven't watched Macross but I played the Macross game for the NES

The only Macross I haven't yet completed is Macross Zero, but I've finished the rest. I've also read some of the Macross 7 Trash manga (which is just as good as the Macross 7 anime), but I didn't finish it.
I heard Macross F will begin next month in October 2007. It will be set in the year 2070, which is 25 years after Macross 7. I hope it at least finally explains what happened to the original Macross cast (Hikaru Ichijyo, Lynn Minmay, Misa Hayase) after they left Earth at the end of the original Macross series.

From all likelihood, nope, the original Macross casts won't be revisited.
Shoji Kawamori, Macross creator has many time mentioned that SDF: Macross characters won't be featured in future Macross installments (apart from Exedol, Max & Millia that returns for Mac 7). After more than 25 years, he remains true to his word. Of course, if one counts the return of Roy Focker in Macross Zero, it do not count as Macross Zero takes place in 2007AD, before the event in the original SDF: Macross ever occurred.
We'll be seeing a brand new adventure with brand new characters carrying the Macross torch.

That's not exactly what I meant. It would be too unreasonable to expect a comeback of the original cast, 60 years after the original Macross. What I'm hoping for is that Macross F at least
explains what happened to the original cast on the Megaroid-01 after it left Earth.

I admit that I was a Robotech fan back in the mid 80s....only because I didn't know Harmony Gold hacked three separate series into 1 story line. The final straw for me was when HG screwed up THE SENTINELS. Now, I just refer to Robotech as ROBOHACK or ROBOCRAP.

Get hype up all you want. Nowadays even Macrossies have matured enough from name-calling Robotech, its just so 1990s & early 2000s old-dated ideology. Those days it was fun dissing Robotech, as any true-blue Macrossies would pointed out, even required .... but nowadays, the same reaction is considered juvenile & self righteous overzealous fanatics who have nothing better to do than ranting about ol' issues.
Robotech is different from Macross-verse apart from sharing SDF: Macross footages. Nowadays Robotech is more Mospeada-ish, given the Robotech: Shadow Chronicles saga.

Loved Macross...as for Robotech I must say that the American company that was able to put three different anime and make it into one series must have skillfull editors indeed...
