Indonesia receiving and the Netherlands giving development aid is not something new.

But do u think it's good that European governments try to influence ex-colonies on the governance methods with aid money?

Do you think the country is being colonized once again just like b4 ?, the M.O is the same.
This time instead of VOC (colonial company) dat was helped then by the native/local rulers to milk bone dry them peoples and plantations for tea/coffee/spices etc.
Now the MNC (multi national corporations) is the new VOC who rob blindly Indo's rich natural resources of copper, gold, uranium, gas, oil etc
with present day ruling administration/elites in cahoots ?

haha. really it's a way for them to forget about guilt. esp. that most ex-colonial masters are land filled with left wing apologists.

As long as there's control, foreign contributions can only help Indonesia become stronger " economically".
By all means, it even creates more jobs and oppertunities.
After centuries of Dutch colonization, i think that the Netherlands owes this to Indonesia.

Contrary to the USA, Europeans realise that the best way to promote democracy and stable governance are financial incentives, NOT war. This is exactly the reason why former dictatorships such as Spain, Greece and Portugal are now thriving and stable countries.

So u and Kresna think that Dutch aid for promoting good governance in Indonesia is a good thing?
I always thought it's better to have fair trade policies and increased economic cooperation with other countries, particularly if they are ex-colonies, rather than giving them aid as a carrot to influence their domestic political parties. I see aid as a bad thing -- creates a mental crutch. Not only that, I don't see why Indonesia should copy Dutch style democracy for their governance. It will exacerbate ethnic tensions within the archipelago. As it is, Holland is struggling to cope with far-out Islamist elements that have arisen through the ranks of democracy. What do u think of this?
