So this thread will consist of all kinds of pageants around Indonesia, be it Puteri Indonesia (Miss Indonesia Universe), Miss Indonesia (Miss Indonesia World), Tourism Ambassadors (Abnon, Moka, etc), Male Pageants (L-Men Manhunt), Transgender Pageants (Miss Waria?), apa aja!!

I'll start with Puteri Indonesia.
Puteri Indonesia
This pageant is the oldest annual beauty pageant in Indonesia. Contestant come from provinces around Indonesia to compete for the title. The winner of this pageant is Indonesia's representative in Miss Universe.

Abang-None Jakarta
In Indonesia, there are "Duta Wisata" (Tourism Ambassador) pageants held in respective provinces. For DKI Jakarta, there is the annual Abang-None Jakarta. This is quite a prestigious event, because some of the past winners have proven that winning this contest is like receiving ticket to fame. Putri Waria Indonesia
This pageant is actually an accomplishment (well, kind of) as most Indonesians are quite conservative, and transvetites are frowned upon. There are even attempt from a certain mass organization (guess which one) to sabotage the pageant, but nevertheless, our brothers (sisters?) succeeded anyway. Here is a pic from the 2005 pageant:

Pasanggiri Mojang-Jajaka (Moka)
Mojang (f) and Jajaka (m) contestants came from all over the province of West Java to compete for being the Tourism Ambassador of the province. Here are the winners (Pinilih) of Mojang 2006 (Paramitha Soemantri) and Jajaka 2006 (Aditya Hilman Fauzi).


And about Miss Waria, of course we should be proud of him/her.... I think...

Putri Bumi/Miss Indonesia Earth

I don't know much about Miss Earth. I think this is a pageant made by the Philippines. Isn't it great that that they have an international pageant of their own? It's no wonder, though. Santoloco's homeland is full of pageant-maniacs! Right, santo?

Miss Indonesia (or Miss Indonesia World, if you prefer so) is our representative for Miss World. This pageant started in 2005 (very new). Miss Indonesia World 2006 is Kristania Virginia Besouw from North Sulawesi (yes, a Minahasan girl just like Ryochan!But Ryo is cuter,of course ) who compete in Miss World 2006:

Due to some controversies, Indonesia absented in international beauty pageants and focused on national beauty pageant instead. In 1992, ‘Pemilihan Puteri Indonesia’ or the ‘Miss Indonesia Contest’ was held for the first time, sponsored by local traditional cosmetic company Mustika Ratu. However this contest secretly sent the winners to international contests too in 1995 and 1996.

We gotta admit, our brothers and sisters in the Philippines have more experience in this field But the side effect is, some of them became too proud. So when facing possible threats, they became very savage and harsh! They don't only act this way to Indonesia, but to others too. Of course, not everyone of them is like that, just some crazed-fans.... but there are loads of them!!

In 2005 where the era of globalization and media has freedom extensively, Indonesia officially sent the representatives to the international beauty pageants again.
