Socal , u r such a good person, probably the most knowledgeable, well mannered netizen i have ever seen, sensible thread and post, no flaming trolling. Most of the time i just find it hard to have a serious discussion about a particular issue on the internet cos too many un-educated ppl, they always turn serious discussion into flame war. well and you are definitely not one of them.

The petition should be for the majority to stand together and condemn extremists who're constantly harassing and stopping any development to better Viet Nam.

These extremists will not let you get along. They are not going to stop at this nice petition, have they?

Glad to see that you can understand. Where do you think it leads when the majority is silenced? I am sure you understand this and seem to support this too.

Don't you think also that the majority is losing their freedom, their love ones' future, respect, unity etc?

How are they losing their freedom? I think the majority don't want to speak out about it because they have too much on their plate to worry about. I have school to attend and a job to go to. I don't have the time to speak against a form of gov. that I'm not living in and standing in the streets to protest a stupid show. The only time I speak about VN is in this forum.

I don't think oversea Vietnamese will ever be united with VN. If unity do occur, it will probably wouldn't happen in another 20 + years. At that time, a whole new generation of Vietnamese youth who never have a relationship with VN.

So they are silent or being silenced one way or another while they dream their silent dreams? Every community and people got stuff on their plate - are they also silent or being silenced like Viet communities? What to say these new generations would not do the same thing?

They have always used the excuse of stopping communists, don't they? I have told that most Vietnamese want better for their love ones, relatives, friends - care enough to send money home, go back to visit etc. There is an element of don't care enough, but mostly I think they're just waiting for young generation to come of age. They have seen too much bloodshed and the will to fight has been taken out of them; they feel insecure and not settled, but I agree that really amounts to not caring enough. Perhaps some are just confused like you to begin with, too confused to know which side. Perhaps they feel they need time for the critical masses to be more aware, the young generation?

There should be more younger generation like you able to see both sides of the F*cking coin, as eloquently put by another brother on this broad. Well done for the ability to see both sides of the coin. You should be able to share this experience to others.
