Here is a thread to discuss the Japanese Upper House elections, known better as the House of Councillors. Here is the current status of the parties in the House of Councillors.
HOUSE OF COUNCILLORS
CURRENT STATUS
Liberal Democratic Party (conservative) 115
Democratic Party (liberal/social-democratic) 67
Clean Government Party (theocratic buddhist) 23
Communist Party (moderate communist) 20
Social-Democratic Party (social-democratic) 8
Non-partisans (unaffiliated) 8
Its obvious that the conservative LDP has a majority, but in recent polls, the DPJ seems to be gaining momentum, for the first time.
Which party do you support?
I unanimously support the conservative Liberal Democratic Party.

The LDP has had a stronghold in Japanese government from beginning of the new government after WWII. I doubt that this power will be given up any time soon.
I personally don't care which side wins. They all don't do anything anyway.

Well. Here are the pretty final results. I will make a change if anything drastic changes. From Asahi Shimbun:
Democratic Party of Japan (social-democratic/liberal): 50
Liberal Democratic Party (conservative): 46
New Komeito (conservative buddhist-democratic) 9
Communist Party of Japan (moderate communist): 3
Social Democratic Party (social-democratic) 2
Non-partisans: 5
There we go. Discuss.

Well, those were just the seats that were up for grabs. When those are added to the total, the LDP did win the election after all! YES!!!
LDP 112 (with 46 new seats)
DPJ 82 (with 50 new seats(
NKP 22 (with 9 new seats)
CPJ 8 (with 3 new seats)
SDP 5 (with 2 new seats)
So, thought the DPJ beat the LDP when it came to new seats, when the total is all added up, us LDP conservatives won after all! BANZAI!!
