Japan consortium greenlighted for highland mega resort project
The Central Highlands Lam Dong province has agreed in principle to allow a Japanese consortium to invest in a 100 billion yen ($831.4 million) luxury resort complex project, Tuoi Tre reported.
Para Plan Joint Stock Co., which represents the consortium of four Japanese corporations - Mitsui, Mitsubishi, Sumitomo and Limtec, is planning to develop the Dankia-Suoi Vang resort complex on a nearly 5,100-ha area in Lac Duong district, some 22 kilometers from the provincial capital of Dalat.
However, the provincial government warned that if the consortium fails to submit its dossiers for consideration after six months, the project may be taken off the table.
The Japanese investors planned to turn the region, home to famous tourist attractions the Dankia Lake and Suoi Vang (Gold Stream) into an attractive urban town and a large-scale complex of high-class resorts, dubbed as “the Romantic Town”.
Last month, the Lam Dong government revealed a French group proposed to invest in the Dankia-Suoi Vang with estimated cost of some 2 billion euros ($2.71 billion)
However, the provincial chairman, Huynh Duc Hoa, said the province would await word from the four Japanese groups that have pursued the project over the past three years.
