Panasonic Establishes R&D Center in Hanoi, Vietnam

Hanoi, Vietnam, April 5, 2007 --- Panasonic announced today, that Panasonic Vietnam Co., Ltd. (PV) has started the operations of an R&D subsidiary, Panasonic R&D Center Vietnam Co., Ltd. (PRDCV) in Hanoi, Vietnam, in April 2007. With a capital investment of US$ 500,000.00, this new Center widens the number of R&D bases of the global Panasonic Group in the ASEAN region.

PRDCV will run R&D activities relating to digital home appliances and design & development of software and strengthening further development capability in the global market from the ASEAN region. The Center is certified as an R&D company by the Vietnamese government.

The company aims to:
1) establish core technology R&D activities and software development capabilities that are the most efficient in Vietnam
2) strengthen embedded software development resources
3) pursue further efficiencies for the Panasonic Group\'s activities by centralizing R&D and manufacturing in Vietnam

Panasonic, Hanoi U. of Tech. Establish Educational Partnership

Hanoi (ACN Newswire) - Panasonic and Hanoi University of Technology (HUT) today announced an establishment of a partnership for educating embedded software engineers. Panasonic will provide a new course at Hanoi University of Technology, following the establishment of Panasonic R&D Center Vietnam Co., Ltd. Panasonic and Hanoi University of Technology have been working on joint research and development initiatives since September 2006. The establishment of the new course will enhance the partnership between Panasonic and HUT.

\"It is significant that we build deeper collaboration with businesses, such as inviting on-site engineers from Panasonic to lecture\" said Professor Ha Duyen Tu, Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Technology.

The objective of the new course is to provide training for talented new engineers in the area of embedded software. Each year, about 30 undergraduates will be selected for the course through an examination process. Panasonic will dispatch their engineers to the class for management and support.

Panasonic also plans to accept the internship for excellent students of the course at Panasonic R&D Center Vietnam Co., Ltd and other Panasonic Group companies in Japan.
