A lot of jobs involve some degree of customer service. I'm not just talking about customer service reps...
Take fast food for example, since I am familiar with it

Can someone explain to me the logic in being rude to someone who is preparing your food? I know that when someone is nasty to me, I'll do whatever I can to fu-k up their order. I don't do anything gross, like spit in the food, but I do load the thing with mustard or ketchup, so it drips everywhere when they try to a bite. Ehh, it's thats the worst I can make myself do.
trust me, no one wants to do any favors for someone who is a complete asswipe. If you want the job done right, then grit your teeth and behave like a civil person. I don't care if they are annoying or lazy or whatnot. If anything, do it for yourself, not for them (although just being nice is really the best bet, but not everyone canbe nice I guess.)
So, I guess, what I am trying to say is...you play an important part in the quality of a service being done for you. Trust me, people are a lot more willing to do a good job for someone who treats them with respect rather than someone who is uneccisarily rude. And really, is it so much to ask?
Because you take ages to frickin get a burger out, its like come on are you killing the cow in there?
And waiters.........oh waiters...........when I ask for a drink I want to get it within 5 minutes, thats not unreasonable, they want a tip and I want my sodding drink, I don't want them going off and talking to their waiter friends about their $hitty little lives when they're supposed to be getting my drink. Also what is with those sods that ask you for a tip when theres already a service charge, pfff........greedy %^(&*"!
Customer service reps really piss me off. I called up about my phone contract, went through all the if you want blah blah blah press 1 -----> for blah blah blah press 3 finally asked the question I wanted and he was like "oh, I'll have to speak to my manager" and put me on hold for 10 minutes, its not even a free fu-king number.......bastard.
People just do not know how to serve.
Then there are the salespeople who call you "You have a contract with $&* are you interested in...." No I'm not fu-king interested, if I was interested I would be calling you or I would already have a contract with you, stop calling me you bastards. Though of course thats not what you actually say, its more "I'm busy right now", "It'll just take a minute " "No I..." "Right so......" *puts phone down*
