I am very disappointed with the latest Miss Philipines who is currently competing in Mexico for the title of Miss Universe. She was quoted to have avoided being photographed with a group of Asian delegates claiming that she did not belong to the group and walk off. I know she is facing pressure from pageant crazy filipinos fans but what she did was totally embarassing for all Filipinos.

LOL I don't think its that...I mean she is from and grew up all her life in the Philippines....identity crisis is mainly a problem with overseas second generation pinoys

I don't think she has identity crisis. She is competing in pageants where Asians don't normally do well and getting relatively less coverage from the media comparing to those latinas. I think this is the reason why she chose to disassociate herself from Asians. I believe if she was to be asked to pose together with the latinas she would have gladly accepted the offer. If this is true then it is very sad her going to that extent just for the sake of winning.

Actually I have seen a pic. of her avoiding the latina group...Miss Thailand on the other hand was trying to get in with the latina group

global beauties already corrected this issue. she was not avoiding other asians . rather she was upholding other asians , aside from the east asians. the real story was some photographers wanted to take pictures of asians. but by that they only meeant japan korea and others. miss philippines who was also with the group along with miss india told the fotogs that "but we are also asians". (i can't remeber the exact details since i can't remember where i read the article. )

was she embarassing us! hell no, she is a proud pinay and asian, correcting thewrong perception that other countries have, that asians mean east asian.

What really happened was this: Misses Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, India and Philippines were together. A photographer wanted to take a picture of the Asian girls. I just read all the post and decided to erase my post. I did not know that so many people are reading my post from all over the world.

Miss Philippines is the most elegant and mature girl in the competition this year. I always supported her and I think that she is trully beautiful. I beleive Miss Philippines had a reason and the girls from Asia were wondering why she said that. I said many things that are positive about her since the beginning, my intention was not at all to make her look bad, I believe that this is what happened and I trully apologioze for it.

Riyo told me that Miss Korea is the most beautiful Asian this year together with India, and this is my opnion as well. Also Miss Korea let Riyo call her mom because her mobile doesn't work in Mexico, Riyo did not speak to her mom since she had arrived also she commented that this is a very kind gesture of her.

im disapointed in miss philippines national costume. yet again its another spanish wannabe concept. i mean with all the ethno-lingustic ethnicities endemic to the philippines who pocess beautiful ethnic dress, you think the philippines would care to showcase some of them every now and then, but again its some ugly @$$ spanish dress that doesnt even look like it is bareable in the tropics or can go anywhere near the water. i mean it would be cool if they alternated every year a dress from the cordilleras, tribal mindanao, muslim mindanao, and etc but no... what a poor job at representing a multi-ethnic/cultural/religious nation.

False. The US, Canada, Australia and a few others are the only countries where Asian is only East Asians to the average person. In a lot of other countries Asian is used for all Asians.

False. The UK, South Africa and Carribean are pretty much the only places where Asian is solely used for South Asians.
