Miễn thị thực cho Việt kiều về Việt Nam
Liên bộ Ngoại giao, Công an vừa đề nghị Thủ tướng ban hành Quy chế miễn thị thực cho người VN định cư ở nước ngoài mang hộ chiếu nước ngoài nhập cảnh Việt Nam.
Khi đó, người Việt Nam định cư ở nước ngoài nhập cảnh về Việt Nam trong thời hạn 90 ngày sẽ được miễn thị thực nếu đáp ứng được các điều kiện như: mang hộ chiếu hoặc giấy tờ có giá trị thay hộ chiếu ở nước ngoài c̣n giá trị ít nhất 6 tháng; có vé phương tiện giao thông khứ hồi hoặc đi tiếp nước khác c̣n giá trị; có giấy xác nhận miễn thị thực...
Quy chế cũng quy định miễn thị thực cho người nước ngoài là vợ, chồng, con của người Việt Nam định cư ở nước ngoài có các điều kiện nêu trên.
Bộ Công an đang xây dựng văn bản hướng dẫn theo hướng đơn giản thủ tục, rút ngắn thời gian khi giải quyết cho các trường hợp người Việt Nam ở nước ngoài xin về Việt Nam thường trú (hồi hương). Đồng thời, Bộ chỉ đạo sửa đổi một số quy định về xuất nhập cảnh, cư trú của người nước ngoài tại Việt Nam theo hướng: mở rộng cấp visa tại cửa khẩu cho người nước ngoài nói chung; cấp visa có giá trị đến 5 năm cho các nhà đầu tư.
Bộ cũng đă báo cáo Thủ tướng về việc sửa đổi, ban hành nghị định mới thay thế Nghị định 05/2000 về xuất, nhập cảnh. Bộ đề xuất biện pháp cải tiến mạnh mẽ: thống nhất quy định cán bộ công chức trong các cơ quan, tổ chức, doanh nghiệp nhà nước hay nhân dân đều được cấp hộ chiếu theo thủ tục như nhau. Quy định mới băi bỏ quy định phải có ư kiến của cơ quan chủ quản khi cấp hộ chiếu; băi bỏ quy định người dân diện KT3 tạm trú 12 tháng trở lên mới được làm hồ sơ cấp hộ chiếu ngay tại nơi tạm trú.

VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Public Security have proposed the Prime Minister to issue the Regulation on visa exemption for overseas Vietnamese who have foreign passports.
Accordingly, overseas Vietnamese who return to Vietnam within 90 days will be exempted from visa if they meet the following conditions: Having foreign passports or alternative papers which are valid in at least six months, valid return tickets or the tickets to go to the third country, and visa exemption verification document.
Foreigners who are the husband, wife and children of overseas Vietnamese regulation who meet the above conditions are also exempted from visas to Vietnam.
The Ministry of Public Security is compiling a guiding document to simplify formalities and shorten the procedures on repatriation of overseas Vietnamese.
The ministry will modify some regulations on immigration and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, including the expansion of visa granting at border gates for foreigners in general and grant five-year visas for investors.
